You might be getting as tired of reading this as we are of writing it, but just imagine how the safety execs at Ford must feel to know there’s another big recall out today, this time for almost 65,000 of its wagonesque Flex SUVs over detaching door trim.
Some 64,900 model-year 2017-19 Flexes are involved in the recall. The issue stems from the driver and front passenger B-pillar door trim, which may detach while driving and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
As a fix, dealers will inspect the B-pillar trim and repair or replace it, as necessary, for free. Interim letters notifying owners of the issue are expected to be mailed Dec. 8; a second letter will be sent out once a remedy is available. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25SB8), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
