Honda is recalling more than 70,600 examples of the Acura ILX sedan (Acura is Honda’s luxury brand) over an issue that affects the brakes.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2016-20 ILXs. The brake fluid in the affected vehicles may be contaminated and cause a seal inside the brake master cylinder to become deformed, possibly leading to a brake-fluid leak and reduced braking ability. Reduced braking ability increases the risk of a crash and injury.

To fix the issue, dealers will replace the brake master cylinder for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Feb. 2, 2026, and a second letter will be sent when a remedy is available. Those with further questions in the meantime can contact the automaker at 888-234-2138 (Honda’s designation for this recall is RN5), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
