After a “do not drive” advisory involving Takata airbags and a recall over failing windshield wipers, the week isn’t slowing down on the safety front for Ford. Now, the automaker is recalling more than 70,400 vehicles over windows that may pinch your fingers.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2024 Ford Ranger pickup trucks and Lincoln Nautilus SUVs (Lincoln is Ford’s luxury arm). The power windows may not automatically reverse when an object (or extremity) is in the way and could shut on an occupant with excessive force, increasing the risk of injury.
To fix the issue, dealers will update the driver and passenger door module software for free. Ford will notify owners Sept. 23, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 24C24), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
