2016 Chevrolet Trax Midnight Edition | Manufacturer image
CARS.COM — Blacked-out styling packages are hardly new, but a number of cars now offer them. The latest to get the treatment is Chevrolet’s subcompact Trax SUV, which adds a Midnight Edition for 2016.
The package runs $500 and comes only on the Trax LTZ — the SUV’s top trim level, which starts at $26,125 including destination ($27,625 with all-wheel drive). The Midnight Edition adds black wheels, door handles and side molding, with gray seat and floormat accents inside. Dealers should have Midnight Editions in stock by late February 2016, but they might be hard to find: The LTZ accounts for only about 15 percent of new Trax inventory on Cars.com.
The darkened effects are fitting for a brand whose ads have touted AC/DC’s “Back in Black,” but it will take a bit more than that to improve an SUV that finished last in Cars.com’s Subcompact SUV Challenge.
