Dodge Demonizes 2018 Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody

CARS.COM — Dodge put a little Demon — of the 2018 Challenger SRT variety, that is — into its Hellcat to come up with the new 2018 Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody.

The Hellcat Widebody has the performance and styling features of the standard Hellcat in a package 3.5 inches wider thanks to Demon fender flares that house big, new 20-by-11-inch “Devil’s Rim” aluminum wheels shod with Pirelli P-Zero 305/35ZR20 high-performance tires. The Widebody also shares the Demon’s aggressive front air splitter.
The new Hellcat Widebody also gets standard electric steering assist. The selectable Street, Sport and Track tuning lets the driver tailor the steering along with horsepower, transmission shift speeds, paddle shifters (automatic transmission only), traction and suspension. There is also a Custom setting to let the driver use individual preferences.

Dodge also says the Widebody’s quarter-mile elapsed time is down 0.3 seconds versus the standard Hellcat to 10.9 seconds, while lateral skid pad grip increased by 0.04 to 0.97 g, and zero-to-60-mph time improved 0.1 to 3.4 seconds.
The Widebody starts at $72,590, including destination and a $1,700 gas-guzzler tax. A base 2017 Challenger Hellcat with a manual transmission, by comparison, starts at $65,290 with the tax and destination. Dealers will begin taking orders for the SRT Hellcat Widebody in July, and deliveries will be later in the fall.
As with other SRT models, buyers also get a day of training at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Ariz.
