CARS.COM — It’s officially fall, and that means the allure of crisp air, cozy sweaters and boots, football and the always-stunning palette of deep oranges and yellows brought to you by Mother Nature. Lately, it seems that automakers are doing their best to celebrate (and compete) with the season’s stunning range of hues.

With the help of the Arbor Day Foundation’s list of the most brilliant fall trees, we’ve come up with a guide that pairs some of the latest automotive colors with the greatest in fall foliage.

Consider, for example, Namib Orange on the 2017 Land Rover Discovery. While Namib pays direct homage to the endless beauty of the African country of Namibia, one might also find a certain similarity between the Discovery’s orange and the twinkling ginger of the autumnal sassafras leaves — both sparkle under the late-afternoon sun in a blaze of burnished glory.

Of course, the crop of orange-hued cars only starts with the Land Rover. Sunset Orange Metallic is an available exterior color on the 2018 BMW 230i. Juicy and deep in tone, one might recognize a striking resemblance between the 230i’s Sunset Orang Metallic and the leaves on a Japanese maple as they enter their seasonal sequence.

A few shades lighter, Liquid Copper showcases the sinewy exterior lines of the 2018 Infiniti QX30. This color could be mistaken for a moment in time on the multishaded and ever-changing black tupelo in autumn — the sunlight bestows some glittery magic on both the car and the tree this time of year.

Not to be outdone, Volkswagen is in on the fall color game with the all-new Tiguan and its seemingly signature hue of Habanero Orange Metallic. It’s spicy, like the height of the orange-ish reds produced by the bald cypress this time of year (aka, the Arbor Day Foundation’s No. 1 tree for fall foliage).

Moreover, the 2018 Ford Mustang is offered in a bold color called Orange Fury. There’s probably a tree to which we could match this color, but it instead seems more of a fitting nickname for the Denver Broncos’ defensive line — the one that won the Broncos Super Bowl 50 and that’s showing some promise again this fall.

But enough of the oranges, autumn is also a season of gold. The Triple Yellow of the 2017 Ford Focus brings to mind the pinnacle of the Aspen season, especially in Colorado, where a sea of gold blankets the mountains for a week or two every fall.

Additionally, the Solar Yellow available on the 2017 Nissan Juke beckons comparisons to the gilded leaves of the sugar maple before it carries on to deeper oranges and reds.

No doubt, there are further examples of car hues that mingle seamlessly with nature. But right now, we’re going to stop and encourage you to take a drive to experience all of the new fall colors however you see fit.
