Ford Mustang Is the Best-Selling Sports Car on Earth


CARS.COM — Culture is America’s largest export, and cars factor big. Turns out that one car resonates around the globe: The latest generation of the Ford Mustang is sold around the globe in 140 countries.

Based on IHS Markit registration data, Ford says that the Mustang was the best-selling sports car globally in 2016, with more than 150,000 of the pony cars sold around the world and nearly 30 percent of those to markets outside of the United States.
The current, sixth-generation Mustang was the first to be sold globally, gaining an independent rear suspension and fastback styling. For 2018, the Mustang gets further changes with new front styling, an available adaptive suspension on GT models and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
