Affected vehicles include model-year 2020-22 and 2025 Escapes. The liftgate hinge covers may not have been fully engaged or adhered during vehicle assembly and may detach from the vehicle, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
To fix the issue, dealers will replace any missing liftgate hinge covers or inspect and reinstall them, as necessary, for free. Interim letters notifying owners of the issue are expected to be mailed Jan. 15, 2026; a second letter will be sent out once a remedy is available. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25SD6), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
