Similar to a separate set of recalls for its Bronco SUV, Ford is likewise expanding a recall involving rearview cameras to include more than 160,700 examples of its Super Duty truck and Expedition SUV, as well as its Lincoln Navigator and MKC SUVs. (Lincoln is Ford’s luxury arm.) The initial recall only involved model-year 2015-17 Mustang sports coupes.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2015 F-250s, F-350s, F-450s, Expeditions, Navigators and MKCs. A loose or damaged rearview camera printed-circuit-board terminal header connector is the culprit and may cause the image to be distorted or blank, reducing the driver’s visibility when in Reverse and increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the rearview camera for free as a fix. Owners will be notified May 5, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25S42), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
