Ford’s latest recall affects more than 29,500 examples of its F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck and involves an issue that may result in a loss of steering.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2024-25 F-150 Lightnings. The front upper control-arm ball-joint nut in these trucks may not have been properly tightened. This may allow the front upper control arm to detach from the knuckle assembly, which can cause a loss of steering and control, increasing the risk of a crash.

To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect the upper control-arm ball-joint nut and replace it and the knuckle assembly, as necessary, for free. Owners will be notified June 9, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 24V949), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
