Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis has taken a conservative approach when rolling out its electric vehicle lineup, initially offering availability in just nine states. As it continues to prepare for its all-electric future, the brand has announced that it has expanded the availability of its electrified lineup to 15 states.
Six states have joined the roster: Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin; the list of existing states includes Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Utah and Washington. The expanded availability will help Genesis reach a key milestone in its plans to prepare for a fully sustainable future as it works to electrify its entire model lineup by 2030.
The announcement also comes at a time when Genesis is preparing to launch the Electrified GV70 SUV, which joins the compact GV60 SUV and the Electrified G80 sedan in the lineup. Unlike the Electrified G80, the Electrified GV70 (and the GV60) qualifies for up to $7,500 in tax credits. Genesis is also giving buyers three years of complimentary 30-minute charging sessions at Electrify America fast-charging stations.
