As with Genesis’ recently refreshed 2025 GV80 mid-size luxury SUV, you have to be a keen observer of Genesis metal to spot the differences between the current and 2026 versions of the GV70 and Electrified GV70. For the gas-powered GV70, changes include new front and rear bumper styling, revised exhaust finishers and a new front grille with a more open crosshatch design. There are also new headlights, new wheel designs and restyled rear turn signals.

The all-electric Electrified GV70 also gets revised lower front bumper styling as well as a significant functional update: a North American Charging Standard charge port instead of the Combined Charging System type it’s had until now. The switch to the NACS connector will make it easier for owners to charge at compatible Tesla Superchargers when Genesis vehicles gain access to the DC fast-charging network in the first quarter of 2025. The charge-port door is now powered, too, and there’s a new heating element to ensure access to the charge port in cold conditions; there’s also new lighting for the charge port.

More Significant Changes Inside

Updates to the SUVs’ cabins are more significant, with the biggest changes centered on the dashboard and center console. The separate instrument cluster and infotainment screen have been replaced with a widescreen display that stretches across much of the dashboard and measures 27 inches. The dashboard’s center air vents have been repositioned below the widescreen display, with a new strip of vehicle controls and knobs below them, and the climate controls have been repositioned on the forward portion of the updated center console. The new design is clean and retains user-friendly knob controls, and it’s similar to the approach Genesis took when updating the larger GV80.

Other changes include enhanced voice controls and over-the-air update capability as well as a new Terrain mode for optimized performance in snow, mud or sand. Genesis also says the SUVs’ lane-centering steering has been improved, and Remote Smart Parking Assist can now park in diagonal parking spaces. There’s also a newly available Bang & Olufsen premium stereo.

Powertrains Mostly Carry Over

The gas-powered GV70 uses the same engines as before: a standard 300-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder or an optional 375-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6. The Electrified GV70, meanwhile, gets a new 84-kilowatt-hour battery that’s roughly 9% larger than the prior 77.4-kWh battery. Genesis says the new battery will give the 2026 Electrified GV70 more range, but it didn’t provide an overall number. (The 2025 Electrified GV70 has an EPA-estimated range of 236 miles on a charge.)

On-Sale Date

Pricing hasn’t been announced for the 2026 GV70 and Electrified GV70, but Genesis says the SUVs will arrive at dealers in the first half of 2025.
