How Much Is the 2026 Mazda CX-5?

Key Points

  • Pricing for the 2026 Mazda CX-5 starts at $31,485 (all prices include $1,495 destination charge).
  • Redesigned SUV is longer and wider than the vehicle it replaces
  • Rear seat expands with more than 2 inches of additional legroom and an extra inch of headroom

Longer, wider and riding a longer wheelbase than the vehicle it replaces, the redesigned 2026 Mazda CX-5 appears to address our chief complaint with the outgoing model: its tight quarters. While Mazda has yet to release full specifications for the new CX-5, it says the cargo hold has grown. We’re hopeful that the new infotainment system with standard Google Built-In will also fix what we called “a fatal flaw” in its predecessor, a vehicle we otherwise found to be highly appealing.

Additionally, the CX-5’s available turbocharged engine disappears from the lineup for 2026, but an upcoming hybrid powertrain might offer both more power and greater efficiency than the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.

Trim Levels and Safety Features

The entry-level CX-5 2.5 S comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, manually adjustable front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control. Cabin tech consists of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, eight-speaker audio system, and 12.9-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard safety technologies on the 2026 Mazda CX-5 include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, emergency steering assist, road-sign recognition and a driver-attention monitor.

To that, the 2.5 S Select adds tinted windows, heated side mirrors, keyless entry, synthetic leather seating, wireless smartphone connectivity and wireless charging.

Upgrading to the 2.5 S Preferred trim nets 19-inch wheels, windshield wiper de-icers, a power liftgate and roof rails. It also upgrades the cabin with a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a head-up display.

Black wheels and exterior trim distinguish the 2.5 S Premium, which also features a panoramic moonroof and LED headlights and taillights. Inside, the Premium features genuine leather upholstery, a power-adjustable passenger seat, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a 12-speaker Bose sound system and ambient lighting.

At the top of the CX-5 lineup, the 2.5 S Premium Plus piles on a hands-free power liftgate and 15.6-inch touchscreen. The Premium Plus also includes more safety tech, such as front cross-traffic alert with automatic emergency braking, lane-centering steering, automatic lane changes, a driver-attention monitor, adaptive headlights and a 360-degree camera system.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

At launch, the only powertrain available in the 2026 CX-5 is a 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 186 pounds-feet of torque; it’s paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard across the CX-5 lineup.

Official fuel-economy estimates are not yet available, but the 2026 CX-5 will likely improve on the 2025 model, which returned a best of 26/30/28 mpg city/highway/combined with the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder. A hybrid will join the lineup for 2027.
