Key Points

  • Pricing for the 2026 Toyota RAV4 starts at $33,350 (all prices include $1,450 destination charge).
  • Redesigned from the ground up
  • All-hybrid powertrain lineup rated at up to 44 mpg combined

Toyota fully redesigned the RAV4 for the 2026 model year, retaining its boxy proportions but chiseling away at its surface for a more aggressive and modern overall shape. Inside, the compact SUV is much improved, with a fresh design and materials that look and feel richer than the outgoing RAV4’s. Most importantly, like the Camry, the RAV4 now boasts a fully hybrid powertrain lineup, and the automaker estimates the base front-wheel-drive SUV earns an outstanding 44 mpg combined.

Release Date and Pricing

There is a downside to all of the RAV4’s improvements: price. The 2026 model starts $2,100 higher than 2025’s non-hybrid offering; however, it’s $950 less expensive than the 2025 RAV4 Hybrid.

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 will go on sale before the end of this year. Full line pricing is as follows. FWD is standard on the LE, SE and XLE, with all-wheel drive available for $1,400; AWD is standard on the Woodland, XSE and Limited.

  • LE: $33,350
  • XLE Premium: $37,550
  • Woodland: $41,350
  • SE: $36,150
  • XSE: $42,750
  • Limited: $44,750

Trim Levels and Safety Features

Toyota splits the RAV4 family into two branches. One consists of the LE and XLE Premium and the other the SE and XSE, which are distinguished by black exterior trim and wheels, dark-chrome accents and some additional standard content. The Woodland and Limited are largely stand-alone trim levels, cherry-picking features from either lineup and adding unique touches.

The entry-level LE comes standard with keyless entry and start, 17-inch alloy wheels and LED exterior lighting. Its cabin is upholstered in cloth but features dual-zone automatic climate control, a six-speaker audio system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.5-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is standard on every 2026 RAV4. This suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-centering steering, road-sign recognition and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.

The XLE Premium builds on that foundation with front and rear parking sensors, 18-inch wheels, a power liftgate, synthetic leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and a wireless phone charger.

Aimed at adventurous buyers, the Woodland rides 0.4 inch higher than the rest of the RAV4 family with all-terrain tires mounted on matte-gray 18-inch wheels. It gets unique bumpers and a distinct grille, plus black exterior trim, a trailer-hitch receiver and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Inside, the Woodland includes all of the XLE’s content plus a heated steering wheel and exclusive trim.

The S branch of the family tree starts with the SE. In addition to the visual differences between it and the LE, the SE also gets front and rear parking sensors, heated front seats and blue accent stitching. The XSE is a greater departure from the XLE. Available with a limited interior and exterior color palette — and exclusively with a black roof — it features black 20-inch wheels, vertical LED signature lighting in front, a moonroof, a hands-free power liftgate, synthetic suede seat trim, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, a 12.9-inch touchscreen and a 360-degree camera system.

At the top of the RAV4 ladder, the Limited downsizes to 18-inch wheels (finished in dark gray) and boasts satin-chrome trim, a panoramic moonroof and rain-sensing windshield wipers. In addition to the XSE’s luxury features, it includes a 12.9-inch touchscreen with a nine-speaker JBL sound system, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a digital rearview mirror and two wireless charging pads. A head-up display is optional.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

The RAV4’s newly exclusive hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors sending power through a continuously variable automatic transmission. Total system output is 226 horsepower for FWD vehicles and 236 hp for all-wheel drivers, which power their rear axles with a third electric motor. The FWD RAV4 can tow up to 1,750 pounds; AWD variants are rated to lug up to 3,500 pounds.

With FWD, the 2026 RAV4 returns a manufacturer-estimated fuel economy of 48/42/44 mpg city/highway/combined. Most AWD RAV4s are rated at 45/39/42 mpg, while the Limited slips 1 mpg in the city to 44/39/42. With its higher stance and all-terrain tires, the Woodland returns 41/36/39 mpg. (Official EPA estimates for the 2026 model are not yet available.)

RAV4 shoppers who want still-better fuel efficiency can wait for the redesigned plug-in hybrid, which goes on sale next spring.
