For drivers of Ram’s heavy-duty pickup truck line, now is the time to heed the brand’s latest recall of nearly 171,800 trucks on account of faulty windshield wipers.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2019-20 2500s; 3500 and 3500 chassis cabs (including those with a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 10,000 pounds); 4500 chassis cabs; and 5500 chassis cabs. The wiper arms may loosen, possibly causing the wipers to function improperly and reduce the driver’s visibility in certain weather conditions, increasing the risk of a crash. This isn’t the first time Rams have been affected by such a problem; the HD recall is an expansion of a similar recall from April 2020 that affected the brand’s 1500 half-ton pickup, as well as the Jeep Compass.

To fix the issue and keep drivers from following blind in said conditions, dealers will simply tighten the wiper nuts for free. Ram parent Stellantis will begin notifying owners March 18. Those with additional questions can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, or visit NHTSA’s website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
