Having been on sale now for a full year, the Land Rover Defender Octa is getting its second special edition. The 2026 Defender Octa Black is exactly what it sounds like: a Defender Octa, but black. Black being a familiar concept to most humans, let’s start with a quick refresher on what the Defender Octa is.

Octa Docket

Land Rover’s answer to the Ford Raptors and Rams TRX and RHO, the Octa is a four-door Defender 110 optimized for high-speed off-roading. It features a lifted long-travel suspension, trick interlinked hydraulic dampers to better control body movements, wider bodywork and beefy all-terrain tires — oh, and a 626-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine.

The Defender Octa Black starts with a coat of Narvik Black, which Land Rover calls “the truest black in the Defender paint palette.” A gloss finish is standard, but a matte wrap is available. From there, Land Rover makes some 30 exterior bits black that aren’t normally so. The front and rear skid plates and recovery hooks are powdercoated satin black. A gloss finish is applied to the quad exhaust tips, wheels (a choice of 20-inchers with all-terrain tires or 22s wearing all-season rubber) and brake calipers. Even the tires and the Land Rover logo in the grille are black, the latter with dark silver script to match the “Defender” lettering on the hood.

The interior is a likewise vibrant black, upholstered in a mix of semi-aniline leather and Land Rover’s Kvadrat wool-blend textile. The Defender’s signature Cross Car Beam structural/aesthetic dashboard structure is, like the exterior pieces, powdercoated satin black, and chopped carbon-fiber trim is available for customers who want a different visual texture without straying from the achromatic theme.

Availability and Pricing

The Land Rover Defender Octa Black will go on sale shortly. Pricing is not available yet, but seeing as the Edition One carried a premium of some $16,000 over the regular Octa, we expect the Black to go for at least $170,000.
