Lexus CT 200h To Offer IS F-Inspired Equipment

The 2011 Lexus CT 200h goes on sale in March. To remind people that the dedicated hybrid even exists — remember Toyota unveiled this car nearly a year ago now — the automaker will have a large display and a tuner model at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show.

The Five Axis Project CT model will feature a custom paint job, 19-inch wheels, a touch-screen interface and a more aggressive suspension and braking setup than what will be found on the regular model.

We asked Lexus whether such a model would make it to production, and the short answer is no. According to Lexus spokeswoman, Allison Takahashi, the Five Axis is really just a project car, but there will be sporty accessories available, which is reminiscent to equipment found on the Lexus IS F.

Initially, the CT 200h will be available in just one trim with features such as 17-inch wheels and dual-zone automatic climate control.

F Sport Equipment performance accessories are currently found on the Lexus IS, IS C GS, LS 460 Sport, LFA and the IS F. Optional equipment on the CT 200h will include larger wheels, a performance suspension kit, body kit, pedals and shifter knob. If you get it all, the vehicle will probably look something like the Lexus CT 200h F Sport Concept from the 2010 SEMA show. These features further distinguish the CT 200h from the HS 250, which doesn’t have a sporty bent. Think of the pair as complimenting two different driver needs the same way the similarly priced and sized IS and ES do.

The Lexus CT 200h will go on sale with a price tag of $29,120, excluding an $875 destination fee. That’s decidedly less expensive than the HS 250h and is actually the most affordable Lexus in the lineup.
