After teasing an updated 2026 Passport TrailSport earlier in the summer, Honda is, well, teasing us some more. The earlier announcement included just an outline of the vehicle viewed head on. Now, we get full, well-lit photos of the Passport TrailSport doing exciting off-roading things — climbing rocks, wading streams, gazing triumphantly over conquered landscapes. The photos are clear, but the detailing of the new Passport is obscured by a camouflage wrap.
Still, while the automaker has provided no more details than that its engineers have been testing the 2026 Passport TrailSport “from the red rocks of Moab to the sandy dunes of western Michigan to the muddy trails of Appalachia,” it has hinted at some specifications. Honda says the TrailSport will get a more powerful 3.5-liter V-6 engine, a “high-strength” 10-speed automatic transmission and a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system standard.
Peering Under the Camouflage
Given the Passport’s close relationship to the three-row Pilot, we expect that powertrain is the same one that debuted in the larger SUV for the 2023 model year. Still displacing 3.5 liters, the Pilot’s V-6 generates 285 horsepower and 262 pounds-feet of torque, 5 hp more than the 2025 Passport but no additional torque. Boasting an extra gear ratio over the Passport’s nine-speed, the Pilot’s automatic also fits the description given in the teaser. Ditto the second-generation AWD system that debuted in the 2023 Pilot, which Honda said at the time could handle 40% more torque.
The camo will come off soon. Honda says the 2026 Passport TrailSport will debut later in the fall and arrive at dealerships in early 2025.
