Child-safety seat manufacturer Dorel is recalling more than 179,800 examples of its Safety 1st Grow & Go Sprint convertible child-safety seat due to a defect in the head restraint’s foam padding.

Affected products include certain Safety 1st Grow & Go Sprint convertible seats with model numbers CC321GYU, CC321GYUD, CC321GYY, CC321GYYD, CC321HAO and CC321HAR. The head-restraint foam pad in these seats is not adequately secured, which can allow children to pick off pieces of foam. If detached, the foam pieces may pose a choking hazard, increasing the risk of injury to the child.

To resolve the issue, Dorel will mail a replacement head-restraint pad assembly kit for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 9, but those with further questions in the meantime can call Dorel customer service at 877-657-9546, email Dorel at gng-sprint-recall@djgusa.com or visit NHTSA’s website to check their car seat’s brand or model for other recalls and learn more.
