An issue with the high-voltage battery pack in certain Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe plug-in hybrid SUVs is prompting Jeep parent automaker Stellantis to recall more than 13,700 vehicles.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2022-23 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe PHEVs. The battery pack assembly was built with the wrong fasteners and may fail to secure the 200-amp fuse, resulting in excessive heat. The heat may cause the fuse to fail and a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
To fix the issue, dealers will inspect and replace the battery fuse for free; they will also inspect the assembly for any damage and replace it, if necessary. Owners will be notified of the issue starting Dec. 2. In the meantime, those with further questions can contact Stellantis at 800-853-1403 (its number for this recall is Z71), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
