Nissan Altima, Titan Recalled for Tire Sidewall Issue
Part of the tire manufacturing process is what’s called curing, where pressure is applied to the rubber to give it its final shape and tread pattern. This step is at the heart of another big March recall from Nissan being issued for nearly 127,000 cars and trucks equipped with Continental-brand tires.

The vehicles affected, specifically, are model-year 2018-21 Titan pickup trucks and model-year 2019-20 Altima sedans. On the affected vehicles, it’s possible that one or more tires were cured for too long during Continental’s tire production. As a result, they may develop a break in the sidewall, resulting in sudden air loss or belt edge separation, which could lead to tread or belt loss, increasing the risk of a crash.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect the tires and replace them, as necessary, for free. Nissan will begin notifying owners April 28, but those with further questions can call the brand at 800-867-7669, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
