Affected vehicles include model-year 2019-20 Nissan Altima sedans and 2021-24 Rogue SUVs, as well as model-year 2019-22 Infiniti QX50 SUVs and 2022 QX55 SUVs, equipped with 1.5-liter three-cylinder or variable-compression turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines (Infiniti is Nissan’s luxury arm). The engine bearing may have defects that can lead to engine failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect the engine oil pan for metal debris and will repair or replace the engine, as necessary, for free. For vehicles with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder, if no debris is found during the inspection, dealers will replace the oil pan gasket and engine oil and reprogram the engine control module; for vehicles with the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder, if no debris is detected, dealers will replace the engine oil.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Aug. 25. Those with questions in the meantime can contact Nissan at 800-647-7261, Infiniti at 800-662-6200, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
