Just a couple of days after Ford recalled nearly 300,000 of its F-Series Super Duty trucks for faulty backup cameras, the automaker now is recalling more than 1.4 million Ford and Lincoln vehicles for a similar issue. (Lincoln is Ford’s luxury brand.)
The rearview camera in these vehicles may appear distorted or blank when the vehicle is in Reverse, decreasing driver visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera for free. Interim letters notifying owners of the issue are expected to be mailed before November; a second letter will be sent out once the remedy is available, which Ford expects to be in June 2026. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25SA9), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
