Pickups Are Popular Around the Globe

Ever wonder what the most popular vehicle is in each state? That's easy; if it's not the Ford F-150 or Chevrolet Silverado, then it's the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. Pretty boring. But have you ever wondered what the most popular and unique vehicle is in each state? Calculating that is a little more difficult because you have to come up with some kind of ratio between what is bought across the country and compare that with the individual tastes in each state.

That's what Popular Mechanics did when creating its Unofficial State Car list. As you might expect, there are plenty of states that appreciate pickups but there are many other interesting choices as well. In some states the most-sold vehicles have been discontinued for years.

If your tastes run more globally, TopSpeed put together a list of the most-searched automotive brands in every country on Earth. You may be surprised when looking at North America. TopSpeed also included the most-searched brands by state as well. The U.S. results give new meaning to a "Toyota Smile." Additionally, as you may have noticed from videos in the more volatile parts of the Middle East, Toyota pickups appear to be popular there as well. The TopSpeed data bears that out.
