Vehicles Affected: Approximately 159 Ram 1500 pickups (125 in the U.S., 32 in Canada, and two outside North America) built within a 12-day period have been identified.
The Problem: ZF Friedrichshafen AG (the makers of the Ram eight-speed transmissions) advised Chrysler that a small shipment of the TorqueFlite 8 transmissions may have a defect that could prevent the vehicle from shifting into Park.
The Fix: Service technicians will inspect the vehicles to determine if the defect is present, then replace the transmission if necessary.
What Owners Should Do: The Chrysler Group will contact certain model-year Ram 1500 owners and advise them when to schedule service. For more information, customers can call 800-853-1403.
