Should You Wait for the 2014 Mazda6?

The U.S. on-sale date hasn’t been announced, but the 2014-model-year designation means it couldn’t go on sale here until Jan. 1, 2013. We expect its actual on-sale date will be even later than that. It will be powered by the efficient 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s found in the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda3.

Right about the time the shrouds are ripped off the Mazda showcars in Paris, the new Honda Accord will debut in the U.S. and go on sale shortly thereafter. The 2013 Ford Fusion, which has a starting price of $22,495, including a $795 destination charge, has garnered praise for its sharp-looking redesign; it will go on sale about the same time as the Accord.

The Accord and Fusion follow the recent redesigns of the Nissan Altima and Chevy Malibu while the best-seller in the class, the Toyota Camry, was redesigned last year.

With all this new sedan-shaped sheetmetal to choose from, will Mazda miss out on a slew of a shoppers before its 6 hits the U.S.?
