The Darkening: 2024 Kia Telluride Gets Available Darker Trim and Modest Price Increase

Introduced in 2020 alongside its Hyundai Palisade platform mate, the Telluride redefined Kia, setting the tone for its brand in a high-volume class and offering bold styling, class-leading safety tech and unfussy secondary controls at a tremendous value. The Telluride’s tough, blocky styling still stands out four years in, and Kia is keeping that intact for 2024. The only exterior changes are a switch (back) to amber daytime running lights, and exterior trim on the X-Line and X-Pro that goes from dark chrome to black. They’re tiny changes that are accompanied by a tiny $100 price increase that doesn’t even keep up with inflation; the SUV now starts at $37,355 (all pricing includes a $1,365 destination charge). From that perspective, the 2024 Telluride is an even greater value than before.

Performance and Trim Levels
All Tellurides are powered by a 291-horsepower, 3.8-liter V-6 engine that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and has up to a 5,500-pound towing capacity. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive with a center locking differential is available across all trims.
The LX has seating for eight with one-touch sliding and folding second-row seats, synthetic leather and dual-zone climate control. Standard equipment also includes keyless entry and starting, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation and satellite radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Wi-Fi and five USB-C ports. The LX also rides on 18-inch aluminum wheels and has LED headlights. Standard safety equipment includes rear parking sensors; adaptive cruise control; forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and turn monitoring; blind spot monitors; rear cross-traffic alert; safe-exit assist; and lane departure steering assist.
The S trim level adds roof rails and 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the second-row bench seat is replaced by captain’s chairs, the front seats are heated, the driver’s seat gets eight-way power adjustment, and there’s a wireless phone charger.
Step up to the EX and you’ll net a standard moonroof, a power rear hatch and LED taillights. EXs come standard with eight-passenger seating, real leather, second-row privacy shades, power adjustment for the front passenger seat, ventilation for the front seats and another USB-C port.
The SX boasts a second moonroof and switches back to standard second-row captain’s seats. It also gets a Harmon Kardon audio system, the ability to use your phone as a key, cameras that project a blind spot feed into the gauge cluster when a turn signal is activated, a 360-degree parking camera system, front parking sensors, reverse automatic emergency braking and emergency steering assistance.
At the top of the line, the SX Prestige is available only with all-wheel drive. It upgrades to Nappa leather with ventilated front and second-row seats and a heated steering wheel. The Prestige also replaces the analog instrument cluster with another 12.3-inch digital display, gets a digital rearview mirror and a head-up display.
Available as an add-on to AWD builds on the EX trims and above, the X-Line costs $1,495 to $2,295 (depending on trim) and adds all-black wheels, as well as the aforementioned black exterior accents on the window surrounds, grille, bumpers and body sides. It rides on slightly taller springs and shocks for greater ground clearance and gets X-Line badging on the front seats. In the SX and SX Prestige, the X-Line also includes a tow mode with a self-leveling rear suspension. For another $1,000, the X-Pro (available on the AWD SX and SX Prestige) swaps the 20-inch wheels and their all-season rubber out for 18s wearing all-terrain tires.
