Toyota Teases Next-Generation RAV4

Having reached its seventh model year since a major redesign, the Toyota RAV4 remains the most popular vehicle in its class — the third most popular vehicle in the U.S., in fact, with a nearly 20% lead over the Honda CR-V in sales for 2024.

But Toyota isn’t resting on its laurels. The automaker released a trio of bird’s-eye photos of a vehicle promising “all-new style, from urban streets to outdoor retreats,” that sure seem to imply a new RAV4 is on the way. At the moment, however, we have no information other than that.

Will the RAV4, like the Camry, go hybrid-only in its next generation? The RAV4’s prominence on Toyota’s sales charts would make that a big gamble, but the company took the chance with the Camry, which is its second-bestseller. For 2025, the price difference between the hybrid and gas-only RAV4s is about $3,000. That’s only slightly more than the premium Toyota charged for a hybrid 2024 Camry, the year before committing that whole line to gas-electric power.
