Key Points
We took the Forester Hybrid on a roughly 200-mile trip to see what kind of gas mileage it gets in real-world driving, and the results surprised us.
A new gas-electric hybrid powertrain is available for the 2025 Subaru Forester.
The 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid has EPA-estimated gas mileage of 35/34/35 mpg city/highway/combined.
The new 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid is EPA-rated at 35 mpg combined with standard all-wheel drive. That’s less than the 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid’s 39 mpg rating and the AWD 2025 Honda CR-V hybrid’s 37 mpg, but we wanted to see what kind of gas mileage the Forester Hybrid gets in real-world driving. To find out, we took it on our standardized fuel-economy testing loop of roughly 200 miles that covered interstates, rural two-lane roads and suburban stop-and-go traffic.
So what was our real-world fuel economy? Check out the video below to see our observed gas mileage at stops along the route — and at the end of the trip.
