What Does Your Bumper Sticker Say About You?

CARS.COM — Tailing our recent Talelight story, the frugal folks at Cheap Car Insurance released findings from their recent survey about drivers’ thoughts and perceptions on a variety of popular bumper stickers. They talked to more than 2,000 U.S. drivers in an attempt to understand what people really think about those tacky vehicular pronouncements. (Before you get all miffed, of course we mean “tacky” like “sticky.” No judgment here.)

Some of the highlights from their findings:

  • The “Coexist” people? They’re perceived as much smarter and more considerate than the honor roll parent, pro-gun, Confederate flag, troop-supporting and even Jesus fish people.
  • Green Party adherents seem to have the most team spirit among political parties; 81 percent of Greens show their Party pride as opposed to 61 percent of Republicans and 56 percent of Democrats.
  • Pickup truck drivers are the most likely to have a bumper sticker on their car; that’s right, 72 percent of them. Minivan drivers come in at 69 percent, a close second.
  • The 26.2 marathon-boasting crowd is apparently seen as the most normal or reasonable. Honestly, who thinks running a marathon is normal? That’s over two dozen miles that you’re forced to run in one day! (Sorry, no judgment.)

And finally, who’s perceived as the most obnoxious? It’s basically a three-way tie with very odd bedfellows: Yes, the pro-gun, honor roll and Coexist people are all perceived as the most annoying or obnoxious. If you’re one of those people and you didn’t already know, now you do. You’re welcome.
