READ before you BUY at South Charlotte Hyundai

If you are Purchasing a Hyundai in the Charlotte Area READ THIS!!! Do not buy your car from South Charlotte Hyundai. They have one singular interest in selling you a car......and that is to make the most possible money off of you. Getting you into the best car or get you the best deal is not in their interests. I’m all about a business making a profit, but by the end of my deal I realized that they are what we all fear the most.... sleazy car salesman. They optimize this. Mind you, I am mad at myself for figuring things out to late, but my loss will be your gain. This will be long, so if you are not seriously looking to buy this will bore you. If you are this information will be vital. I have a low credit score (634) due to medical bills and a recent late on a bill that i thought as paid off. Otherwise my credit is excellent. No late payments in years. Clean mortgage and car history. I didn’t go into the process full of confidence, and they picked up on that and pounced. I told them my budget. I of course went above that. They ran my credit, and I was approved. They first try to sell me a used Nissan that was not at all what I wanted, and way over my budget that I quoted. Then miraculously after I was walking out, they rolled out a new Tucson that was within striking distance of my budget. This is where I screwed up. I should have taken their offer and left. I’ll come back to that in a minute. My salesman then drives up a new Red Tucson. I like it. We talk numbers, and I’m about to commit to it. Then I hear him tell my insurance company that it has 3,400 miles on it. What? I’m not buying a new car with 3,400 miles on it unless it’s discounted. He NEVER mentioned to me that it had those miles on it. I should have left right then. So sleazy. Fast forward I put my signature on a new Silver Tucson. No money down. I thought I got a good deal, but something inside me just wasn’t sitting right. I went home and did some thinking, and calling. I realized a plethora of mistakes I made, and how I should have gotten a Much better deal and could have at either Bob Mayberry Hyundai or at the Hyundai dealership in Matthews. I spoke to both of them as if I were a new client after the fact. This is when I realized all my mistakes, and all the less than transparent tactics of South Charlotte Hyundai. First off they were running a deal that you can get a $50 pre paid car just for test driving a car. I didn’t know this, and they never brought it up after I test drive the car. A solid transparent salesman would say to me “ you just earned $50, let me show you how” , but no their interest are purely their own. Second they ran a Facebook promotion that stated clearly they will pay you $4,000 over Blue Book on your trade in. Pure xxxxxxxx. They didn’t put any of that in writing, and now where does it state any of that. 3rd sleaze tactic. They made my payments for my car at 75 months. Please please be aware of this. I should have, but wasn’t thinking sharply as I was in their store for 5.5 hours and was beat by the end and just signed. I guess that part of their tactics as well. The loan should have been for 72 months, but by tacking on those 3 extra payments, they make even more of of you. Don’t accept this!!! The 4th thing I noticed was that they tried to sell me a great deal while do the financing. They stressed over and over what a giveaway this was. They offered me 3 years of free service on the car for just an extra $13 a month. I didn’t take it. I came to find out after speaking to the dealership in Matthews that they “ Give” you 3 years of free service for nothing when you purchase a car with them. What a deal you were offering me South Charlotte Hyundai. Truly a special deal . I came to find out that I could have paid the same monthly price at either of the two dealerships BUT i would have gotten the Sport Model which is better model vs the SEL model they put me in. I also would have gotten the $50 card, plus free 3 yr of service.

Great experience

Went in for an oil change and tire check before a long trip. Buddy was very nice and easy to work with and got me in and out as quick as possible.

Electrical fix of the alarm system on my 2012 Santa Fe

My vehicle was towed to your service department because of the alarm system problem. Very prompt & friendly response from Buddy who kept me informed of the progress & cost. A good overall experience.

Schedule oil change.

Thanks to Ronald Lisk for all his help. When you have a service advisor help you with all areas of concern on automobile issues from a schedule oil change and in between, to the last details of making sure your car is wash is doing a top notch customer service job.

60,000 service

They took time to explain what was covered. Listened to all issues I raised and addressed them. Were sensitive to the fact that I had to wait because it was my only transportation.

Horrible communication and price higher than quote

We got towed to the dealership due to a faulty alternator on a Monday around 1pm for a 6 yr old car. A little unusual but not crazy. We had an extended warranty from CPO. Was told they couldn’t get to it same day. We understood. They said they would call in the am after talking with Hyundai USA for warranty and that car would be ready by close since they had the parts. No call but called them a few times. Finally was told that would be ready by close. Got a ride from coworker to Dealership at 4pm. Service Tech had not even called Corp. Had to sit as his desk until he called. I was told our battery went bad most likely from alternator but he didn’t push Corp. But alternator was covered. I had to beg for a loaner since now there wasn’t enough time left in the day. So called next day. They never called me. Not done. But at least I had the loaner. Terrible service for such an easy job. Never going back

Great Experience!

This dealership pays attention to detail and met my every need! I would definitely recommend Phil! He’s very polished, professional and followed up with me the very next day after my purchase. I was given an I Owe You for my 2nd key which is still owed to me but rest assured it will be handled properly and Hyundai will drive to me to program my 2nd key!! I’m very happy with my NEW Hyundai Tucson and the staff!
