Recent buyer, recent seller

This review is important to others like myself who value local businesses and great customer service. I purchased my car about three months ago and plan to sell it due to my experience at Neil Huffman Acura. I plan to instead drive a BMW or Volvo for my first luxury car experience. Rather than share my entire experience on here which is long winded, I can admit, here is an excerpt from my email to two managers at Acura: "My car buying experience has been terrible. It has not been exciting or fun. It has been frustrating. I love the RDX but definitely do not enjoy it as this process has soured my opinion of all things Neil Huffman and being in my car every day. I am annoyed at supporting a business such as this and don’t want to be a local brand ambassador for driving an Acura from Neil Huffman. Clearly I'm passionate about this situation and feel that if I buy a luxury car I should have a luxury car experience in all aspects. Acura has never offered that... I felt that while car shopping and wish I had followed my gut. My current plan is to sell my car and buy either a BMW x3 or a Volvo XC60 and work with a group of people who want to work with me and provide me a great car buying and owning experience.

AWESOME DEALERSHIP

Matthew Mutchler was awesome to purchase an Acura from. Honest and straightforward from the first handshake. Absolutely no bs at all. Will service my Acura here and purchase from again in the future.

Worth the Drive

This is our 2nd purchase from Neil Huffman Acura, which happens to be 110 miles from our home. From shopping to driving away everyone at the dealership was great! We don’t mind making the trip from outside Cincinnati to Louisville for the wonderful service and very respectful treatment.

Not sure how it could be worse

My experience with Neil Huffman service started in late August or early September. My daughter's 2006 Acura TSX air conditioning was not working. I took the car in to have that repaired and had them also do an oil change and replace the engine coolant. As part of the service they also did a number of other checks and a tire rotation. The AC was repaired at a cost of approx. 1200.00, they replaced the AC clutch which they said was the cause of the AC failure When I picked up the car the AC was working and the car was driven home and left in the driveway as I needed to change the brakes and was unable to do so immediately due to a recent operation. After about a week and a half I started the brake job and found at least one lug nut on each wheel that was so over-torqued that I bent the factory supplied lug wrench getting the nuts off. I expect some over-torquing when having tire rotation done at a dealer or tire store but certainly not to that extent as this can result in broken studs as well as warped rotors. When I finished the brake job I took the car for a test drive to be sure that everything was functioning properly,, which was when I discovered that the AC was not working again. When I dropped the car back at Huffman I showed the Service Adviser the bent lug wrench and got no response. The AC system was "evacuated and recharged, Added dye and rechecked to confirm no leaks found at this time" another 121.00. Within another week the AC was again not working but as it was heading into cooler weather and my daughter needed to drive back to school I did nothing at that time. Last night 12/10/18 I received a call from my daughter saying that the car had made a strange noise and something fell out under the engine compartment. I asked her to send me a picture of what had fallen off and it turns out to be the new AC clutch. So in summary, after spending over 1600.00 (AC plus other services) I was left with a vehicle that needed all four rotors replaced due to over-torquing of the lug nuts and an AC system that not only still does not work but has the newly installed parts falling off.

Matthew and Alexis are the best!

Probably the best car buying experience ever! Started with CarGuru app searching for vehicles. When I reached out for more information, Matthew responded very quickly. Not only buy email and text but with a personal video message. Alexis was able to show us the vehicle we purchased and continued us through the buying process. On final day, Matthew closed us out. I say all of this because the continuity of service and professionalism never changed. The finance team was even able to beat my banks loan rate! It will be hard to look elsewhere for all future purchases. Thank you Neil Huffman Team and to all the wonderful staff!

Liars, poor workmanship

Pros: The car we bought was a used car, and once it was finished getting worked on it was in very good shape. Cons: The head used car guy is a liar (I think his name is Hugh, but can't quite remember). I went in originally to look at a used car. I was told that it was just taken in and would need to be serviced. I said that was fine, contact me when it was serviced. I asked for an ETA. They said a few days. I said ok. A few days later, the car was still not ready. They said, "we're getting a lot of traction on this one", etc. They were pressuring me to go ahead and buy it, even though it needed work. This was under the promise that they would fix everything. My wife caved and we bought the car with the promise of fixing it. We waited a few days for our new-used car to be fixed but to no avail. They took several days to fix our car that we bought, lying to us in the meantime telling us that it would be ready. They did this at least 3 times during the duration of our meetings. The tech that was working on it was very rude to me once, and I complained to the used car manager, who actually said, "I'm going to have to go back there and straighten them out." The used car manager kept saying it would be ready, fed me lines, and the tech was useless in helping. I caught the used car manager in several lies about the time the car would be ready, saying he had ordered parts that hadn't been ordered yet. The rude tech had told on the used car manager to me: everyone was trying to pass the blame! Once I finally got my car back, one of the plastic hub caps was cracked, and another nearly rolled off while my wife was driving it on the interstate. Her grandpa, who was driving behind her, called her and told her to pull over. he tightened it up and they drove home. Everything with it seemed fine for a few weeks until I realized one day that they had never put back the transmission fluid dip stick! I called and complained, and told them I wanted the fluid flushed and the job redone, and that i wanted the indiana store to do it. They said OK, and the indiana store fixed the issue. We had driven the car for a few months with no issues and we were very pleased with it. We still are, actually. But one issue arose that made me write this review. The techs forgot to tighten down the bolts holding on the front brakes! This could have potentially deadly consequences, because if the caliper housing ever came completely loose and the brake line busted, we would have no brakes to stop our vehicle. What happened was whenever the techs went to put on new brakes, they didn't tighten down the top housing bolt. So i spent 5 days waiting for parts to arrive from a different honda dealer while my car sat undrivable. I fixed the issue myself. I will never, EVER take a car to these guys again or do business with them again. I imagine for new cars it's probably not this way: i suspect that the $50,000 acuras in their lot are taking priority over my lowly $15,000 used car. The problem with this philosophy is that I'm still young and will one day buy more cars.

Well worth driving out of state!

First time with this dealership and were very impressed. Everyone there is so down to earth and friendly. Our salesman Matt picked up the phone no matter what he was doing. Worked with us on an excellent deal, and the free 2-yr maintenance is amazing! Made the transaction so quick and easy with no pressures. Well worth the trip!
