Sold my car

I brought in my Kia Optima for an appraisal. I was greeted immediately and the process began. I had an offer within 30 min. in which I accepted. Very confident and professional staff!

Horrible!

Horrible customer service. NEAL the sales person is a condescending jerk and shouldn't be allowed to work with the public- EVER! Shop somewhere else- I AM FOR SURE!

Mediocre

I did not end up buying a car from CarMax. I was helped by a couple of folks that were pleasant and I felt honest. My problem was on the trade in offered, I went to another "traditional" dealership and got 10% more for my car than was offered ($2500). Second issue was in financing side, I was actually ready to buy a car and the financing department fell through, at the other dealership I was able to get financing through a partner bank very easily. I personally would not return here, but it's more because of CarMax itself instead of the individual people which I liked.

Great Expereience

This was the easiest car buying experience I have had. They took me to the car I was interested in. Keys were there, we drove it right away. The price was competitive, the financing was lightning quick. They washed it while I was signing and I was out of there in under an hour. They even drove me to turn in my rental car so I could just drive my new car home and surprise the family. First class business.

Terrible experience

First, Salesman was older, took him 5 plus attempts to input my information & this went on for two days..via phone & in person was even worse! Second, when I finally was offered to Test drive a car, the same salesman, ran into the car wash head on while pulling the car from the lot and bumped the front of the vehicle I was about to test drive & possibly purchase. Crazy! Third, he was aware of small negative equality in my trade in & I wanted to know the deal & offer on my trade in before he ran my credit. He ran my credit first anyway. Then they offered me a ridiculous trade in offer & wanted me to pay out of pocket for the negative equity that THEY decided on. Shocked & upset our time was wasted & terrible experience, we literally drove down to the next car dealership not even a mile away. This dealership was professional, efficient & gave me $2500.00 more on my trade in than CARMAX. Found a better deal on a newer car & they didn't run my credit until we had agreed on all the numbers. That's how you do business! Walked out with a great experience, newer car and only took 1 hour tops of my time! So, NO I Would never recommend carmax!

BUYER BEWARE

We went to CarMax to get a price for my existing car and to look at late model used Lexus. Gave them all the information for my car, handed over the keys and went out with the salesman to look at a Lexus GX460. Get to the Lexus and while the salesman was getting the key out of the box, I noticed the front tire had a nail in it. Funny, thought there was an inspection process? Then the salesman goes to unlock the door and nothing happens. Oh, the key battery must be dead.....Funny, thought there was an inspection process? I get into the car, put the key into the ignition and nothing happens.... battery is DEAD.....Funny, thought there was an inspection process? Ok, guess I won't be buying this Lexus. I moved onto a Range Rover. Now, I currently have an Rover and know how they drive. I get into this one and as we're driving off the lot, the salesman can't get the gate to open to let us out. Sigh. Off to another exit..... that one doesn't work either.....off to yet another exit, nope, that's not working either, back to the last exit to try again. We've now been trying to get out of the lot for over 15 minutes with no luck. I ask the salesman to just take the car back, we aren't interested but he continues. We finally make it out of the lot and I get behind the wheel. This car drove rough. Way rougher than my current Rover, which is older. I ended up turning around and taking the car back before it broke down on us. Get back to the dealership (knowing we weren't buying a car) and wait for the appraisal. Appraisal comes in and the salesman starts paging though the document (MY GOD, JUST GET TO THE NUMBER ALREADY) and finally gets to their offer. Well, more insulted, I could not have been. I do my homework and I'm a well informed consumer. Offering me $5k LESS than KBB or NADA is insulting. I had better offers at other dealerships. Please make sure you know the value of your car BEFORE you go because CarMax is a rip off. Also, do not buy a car between February and say May as dealerships know people get their tax returns and will offer you less for your car and more for a new car. Needless to say, we did not buy a car or sell my car to CarMax and we will never do business with them again. I guess they thought I was a stupid consumer who didn't know any better. Oh well, they didn't get this sucker.....hope they don't get you either.

Carmax is truly no haggle

Easy, No Haggle Pricing. Fair Blue book value. Free transfer on the car I wanted from out of state. Sales rep was extremely friendly. No gimmicks.
