I put down a $1,000 deposit on a demo car deal.

I put down a $1,000 deposit on a demo car deal. After catching dishonest behavior during the process, I decided not to move forward with the purchase and requested a refund. That’s when the nonsense began. First, they gave me a fake-looking receipt and claimed the refund would hit my account in 10 days. Over 13 days passed — no refund. I contacted my bank, and they confirmed no refund was ever initiated. I left voicemails at Capital Subaru — no response. When I showed up in person, no one could tell me where my money was. They were totally disorganized, and no one had answers. Then someone actually had the audacity to ask if I had checked the correct bank account. Like… what?! Do you think I’m showing up here because I forgot where I bank? That’s incredibly disrespectful. And when I called out how shady this whole situation felt, they told me to “be professional.” No. Be professional? xxxxx, give me my money. What’s even worse — they changed their story and suddenly claimed I’d be getting a check in the mail from corporate in 3 weeks. When I asked for corporate’s phone number (again), the guy said he “had to go find it.” Who doesn’t know their own corporate number or have it ready for customers? It took him three full minutes to look it up. The joke? I had already found the number myself with a quick Google search, and I had already contacted corporate directly. They told me they weren’t aware of the issue at all but said they’d escalate it to the account manager. So now, I get to wait and hope I get my money back. This whole thing is not even about the $1,000 anymore — it’s about trust, accountability, and basic integrity. It's incredibly frustrating and a huge letdown given the high-quality service I’ve received in the past from their service department. Stay far away from Capital Subaru. Don’t trust their paperwork, don’t trust their word, and definitely don’t trust them with your money.

Be super careful dealing with these people!

Be super careful dealing with these people! I ordered a car in January and gave a $500 deposit. Because the stock market tanked in Feb/March, I had to cancel the order. Salesman said don't worry, he would speak with management about my $500. I had no faith that he was really going to do this, but I hoped he was honest. I never heard a word. I have contacted them and get the runaround. Was told that William needed to speak with me and my call would be transferred over. Mysteriously the call went right to voice mail. I left a message, but William never called. I sure wish that I had checked here or on Yelp (where many of the reviews are dreadful as would be expected) before ever going near Capital Greensboro Subaru. The thing was, had they been honest, I would have purchased a car from them once my savings recovers a bit from the stock market. Now - forget about it!

This dealership is dishonest at best, most likely

This dealership is dishonest at best, most likely knowingly fraudulent. We are currently in the process of seeking legal advice regarding the undisclosed condition of the car. We bought a 2025 Subaru Outback with low miles. We were told that the car belonged to the dealership. We bought the car and noticed that the tire gauge sensor was not working. We brought the car into a closer dealer to have it fixed and we were informed that the car had been modified. The car does not have the original wheels, the tire sensor was removed, and the springs were replaced with a different set of springs that makes the car sit lower to the ground. We were not told any of this prior to buying the car.. We were told that the car was still under factory warranty for the first 36 thousand miles and we additionally purchased an extended warranty for a considerable amount of money. The problem is because the car does not have Subaru factory parts, the warrenity is no longer valid. The manager of the Capital Subaru where the car was purchased, was rude, insulting and stated that the dealership is not obligated to inform customers of the condition of "used cars" The dealership is refusing to correct the problem Our hearts are broken and we no longer have faith in the integrity of the Subaru brand. Our recommendation is for potential buyers to take their business elsewhere. Capital Subaru in Greensboro is not reputable.

Would rate no stars if possible.

Would rate no stars if possible. Very disappointed with our experience here. Sales person told us information that was not true and then sold the vehicle we were interested in buying. Will not return here to purchase a vehicle and will be sure to tell anyone that I know not to purchase a vehicle here.

We had a very unpleasant experience at Capital Subaru in

We had a very unpleasant experience at Capital Subaru in Greensboro. Stuck with a car that was not the one we test drove and agreed to. Salesperson messed up the paperwork that we were not informed of until we received the paperwork in the mail 3 weeks later. Told we could get this changed and then find out a couple weeks later that it wasn't possible because it was a new year. They kindly let us know there was nothing they could do but did let us know that they fired the salesperson that left us holding the bag. Poor customer service and no accountability for their actions. I am sure they are all good hearted kind folks but the manner in which they run this dealership is shoddy at best. I hope others read the reviews before making the same mistake that we did.

This place is trying to charge me $50k for an outback wilderness edition ( that they dont even have inhand) , I just purchased the exact same model, trim & options for $43k out the door at another nc subaru dealer. Read their negative reviews on google & shop elsewhere.

Ripoff specialists

Buyer be very aware. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM CAPITAL AUTO. they will take advantage of you and sell you garbage. They gave me contract paperwork that was missing vital information. The finance guy signed my name and gave me the paperwork a week later. They double talk over you. Go to any Flow auto dealer or anywhere but DO NOT GO TO ANY CAPITAL AUTO DEALERSHIP!!!!

Poor Customer Service

I bought a new 2019 Outback last year. At the end of August the radio messed up (extremely loud static and wouldn’t come on sometimes). They said they had to replace the amp and it should be there the following Tuesday since Monday was a holiday. Never heard anything from them. I finally called on Thursday and was told my amp had not come in and he was trying to track it down. Finally after 2 weeks, I got my car back. I had to fight with them to get a loaner but was finally given one. The tires on my car will not stay inflated. I have had them checked out there are no nails, screws, etc. in my tires. I mentioned this when I dropped my car off for the radio but I guess they didn't check it and I didn't think to ask. I have to put air in my tires about every other week. Now my radio has messed up again. This time you can't use the preprogrammed buttons or the control on the steering wheel. I called them and was told that the earliest appt that I could get was at 8:30. I tried to explain to the lady that I lived 30 minutes away and worked about 50 minutes from there. I was told that their shuttle service could not take me that far and that they wouldn't give me loaner. The girl was rude and not didn't seem to care that I was in a jam. So I asked her if I could take to a different dealership and she told me that she guessed I could but they operate under the rules. I understand that loaners can't be given out every time a person drops a car off for service. But my car is under warranty, was not even a year old when this started. It is the only car I have and I need to work in order to make the payments. If I had access to other transportation, I would use it. Buying a Subaru has been the biggest mistake I have ever made. The car drives well, gets good gas mileage but the customer service is horrible.
