My wife and I saw first hand how true professional,

My wife and I saw first hand how true professional, caring sales people handle customers .We had just stopped by to look at new cars .A salesman came out and told if we had any questions to let him know he introduced him self and left us to look .No pressure .We saw a couple of vehicles that interested us ,and went in to find the nice salesman They are very professional and friendly ,we were not not obligated to anything ,but just taking a closer look .We found the vehicle of our choosing not theirs, and they helped make it possible for us to drive off with a great car and great deal Affenberg Hyundai is the place to go to car shop you won't be disappointed.

Be prepared for sales tricks.

The salesman was not forthcoming. They told me the answers to the questions I should answer on my survey for Hyundai for a $50 gift card in return. The salesman used Gmail accounts to instead of company emails to communicate. Very unprofessional. The car was great and no problems. The sales games and services were not. While we were waiting to see the finance guy, another guy (presumably a customer) was yelling in anger at a worker in the showcase area.

Read Before Buying at Auffenberg

This is long, but read till the end and make up your own mind. My wife went to Auffenberg Hyundai to purchase a 2022 Tucson. (Specifically Limited Hybrid version) I was TDY at the time for the Air Force. With scarcity of new cars, she had to act immediately before it was snatched up. Unfortunately, my wife trusted the salesman (private message me if you want to know who it was) to treat her right and give her accurate information. First problem: It wasn’t a hybrid. It was a normal Limited. The salesman was in such a hurry to make a sale, he never went over the fact it wasn’t a hybrid. Second problem: When my wife asked if it was AWD, he said it was only FWD. She inquired that she thought the limited hybrid only came in AWD. He responded that the Midwest version only comes in the FWD and it would be a special order for AWD. He even said that AWD in this model is only good up till 8 mph and after that really wasn’t worthwhile. AWD is only good on slow ice and snow. (Huh??) Straight out lied about AWD. Instead of going over different models with AWD, he plowed ahead trying to sell this specific car. Our bad for not reading the owners manual of the vehicle and knowing the vehicle better than the salesman. Worse Problem: Lied about financing. We can qualify for any financing, but knew Hyundai was offering a $500 incentive to go through their financing. My wife specifically asked how much additional it would cost for HMF financing. He said that it would only cost an additional $62. She confirmed/asked multiple times. He even said we couldn’t pay it off until we paid 3 months worth of payments. (Huh??) She figured only $62 for financing over 3 months was great, so went ahead and bought the car for $36,995. ($39,381 w/everything) Once she brought it home, she was able to contact me (I was in the field all day) and had her take a picture of the car. Definitely not a hybrid. (No hybrid badge) I also calculated the financing. $451 over three months. (Almost the same amount we were supposed to save) I called Hyundai financing and they said we could definitely pay off immediately and there is no such thing as having to pay 3 months worth of payments. Called the manager at Auffenberg and told him of the horrible experience she had buying the car. The only thing he could offer is if he found a hybrid car in the next 72 hours, we could trade that in and pay the difference. I knew they would have no incentive to find a vehicle. Surprise--they didn’t find one. We called other Hyundai dealers in St Louis and they said they would never trade a car with Auffenberg. The other option was to have his appraiser look at the car and give us an offer. 20 additional miles, we brought it in and they offered us….$33,000. CARMAX offered us $38,000 for the car a day later. My wife could see the manager and salesperson hiding in their office. Wouldn’t even come out to talk to her. We talked to another Hyundai dealer in St Louis (he wanted to speak on condition of anonymity) and he couldn’t believe what information he told my wife, why he didn’t educate her on all the different models, confirm if that was really the vehicle she wanted, and lied about financing. He was amazed the salesperson would do that in today’s market since new cars sell themselves. He said if one person doesn’t buy it, there are twenty people behind them that will buy it. I’m so disappointed in how a dealer and salesman can take advantage of someone because they don’t know the cars better than they do. If I knew what I know now, I wouldn’t have ever gone to Auffenberg. We still absolutely love our new Tucson Limited. I know new cars are incredibly hard to find now, but you have to ask yourself, “How much is that car really worth, is it really worth going to a certain dealer or should I just wait until another dealer I want to go to has the car I want?” Please learn from my mistake. Choose wisely.

Poor sales experience and service experience

I’ve owned nissan and Honda’s and never had them in the shop. However, the huyundai sonata 2016 they sold me has been in the shop more times than I can count and services dept do not fix car right. They sold me a certified huyundai and come to find out they lied to me and it’s only certified through their dealership. Horrible engines and faulty equipment. Stick with Toyota, Nissan or Honda

Simple and Straightforward

I’ve bought 2 new and 1 used car from this dealer since 2012, so I feel comfortable in providing my 2 cents. I would characterize this dealer as simple, with no frills. You’ll get a fine vehicle for a good price. Show up, get a decent deal, and drive away. However, if your looking for a back rub and fancy customer service, go elsewhere. This is not a internet-savvy, live web chat kinda place. If your a simple, straightforward person, give them a try. If your expecting Starbucks soy latte while you browse...well you may want to try a different dealer. P.S: I still own all 3 cars with no problems encountered. That may say more about Hyundai than this particular dealer.

Horrible customer service

Service managers do not care about customers. Horrible customer service. Managers are sexist, homophobic, and only care about your money. If you are a customer I hope you are a straight white male!

Waste of Time

Picked out an Elantra and advised we would buy straight out no financing and writing a check. Came back a few days later with everything set to do the deal. Brought the vehicle up front to get started and sales guys says we don't take checks. Left immediately and went to Suntrup in South County. Treated us great, got a fantastic deal, and drove off the lot three hours after being treated like dirt by Auffulberg. Don't waste your time here on an honest deal. Took my $20k in the bank and went elsewhere.

Service Experience

I made an appointment for 2/10/17 at 3:20pm with the service department at Auffenberg Hyundai to have them replace my driver side sun visor and look at my windshield wiper fluid light. (I had fluid in there and there were no apparent leaks but the light was always on). When I arrive they tell me that Phil will be helping me. I tell him how the windshield wiper fluid light is constantly on and that my driver side visor broke off. He seems distracted and I feel like he really isn't listening to me, but I go wait in the waiting room while I assumes they had started looking at my car. Phil comes in about an hour later and lets me know that they looked at my visor and have ordered a replacement. He then walks out and comes back about 30 minutes later and tells me that his guys looked and my windshield wiper fluid was full and there were no leaks. I was like right but what about the light? He then proceeds to tell me that he thought I said there was a leak and that everyone was gone so no one could look at it and that "I was going to have to come back anyway for them to install my visor so they'll look at it then." As I am leaving he tells me that the visor will arrive Tuesday 2/14 and that they will call me. Tuesday passes with no call. I call Wednesday and left a voicemail. No one called back. On Thursday I called again and was transferred to the parts department where they let me know that no visor had even been ordered! I was then transferred to Phil in the service department who of course did not answer and has not called me back. This is unacceptable and I am upset that I took time off of work for absolutely nothing to be done.
