Stay away!

Very dissatisfied. Bought a Pre Wholesale 2004 2wd Truck from them about 2 months ago for 5k as they proclaimed great deal. When I test drove the truck they had to jump start it because "someone forgot to change the battery" and it was dealer than a door nail. They said that if we wanted to purchase the truck they would throw in a new battery. (It was not new, we had to remind them and with attitude we were given a 2 or 3 year old battery i noticed once i got home.) I asked if there was anything I should know about the truck and they said just spongy brakes needing bled, thats it. Did the test drive and all seemed ok and no engine lights or such. It was too late to finalize a deal so I returned the next morning and didn't paperwork. Truck was running and waiting for me upon finishing signing. Immediately noticed while climbing into truck to leave that the engine light was on. 🙄 The dead battery reset the light and nobody had the integrity or honesty to tell me about the engine light on a AS-IS No Warranty sale. I would NOT have bought it had I have known about a engine light and you can't tell me that a "forgotten dead battery" and "appearance of engine light immediately following finalization of paperwork" is just coincidence. I have the utmost confidence that they knew about the light and took advantage of the dead batter to sell a vehicle. I called and complained after finding out that its about $2500 worth of work needing done and having already put another $400ish into the truck. Of course I just got that their standard answer for the the Pre Wholesale is "we haven't inspected the vehicle so we know nothing about it". So basically I just paid 5k for a vehicle worth at most 2k because they were not straight forward with me and have no interest in trying to remedy the situation. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Dealer response

We offer Pre-wholesale vehicles for sale prior to sending them to the auction. We have every customer sign a disclosure that the vehicle has not been inspected and customer is offered to take the vehicle to a mechanic before purchasing. It is unfortunate that the vehicle needed some repairs 2 months after purchase. We were straight forward with you and nothing to hide since we don't inspect the vehicles. We do everything we can so the customer understands that. That is why we had you sign the pre-wholesale disclosure that they vehicle has not been inspected, customer is available to take it to a mechanic prior to purchase, another 2 disclosure that they vehicle is sold AS-IS no warranty because the vehicle was older than 7 years old, and another disclosure that it was AS-IS because of the higher miles.

Not great.

I asked the salesman if I could test drive a used car they had on the lot, when he brought the car out it wasn’t the car I asked to drive, then throughout the entire test drive he was trying to talk me into buying an SUV, even when I said I wasn’t interested.

Quick and Easy

Quick and Easy Process. Most was done over the phone and was in and out. Showed me history report, comparable vehicles, inspection, and how the vehicle works

Hopeless from the get go

The muffler was hanging from the truck when I test drove it. They wouldn’t let me take the vehicle to a mechanic so my brother and I inspected it the best we could. After buying it I had it looked over and 3 of the things that were supposed to have been fixed by their “Certified Master Tech” were not. The grease fitting weren’t even installed in the front end parts like they were supposed to be. The alignment was also off and the oil pan was improperly installed with transmission bolts hanging out. I brought the paperwork from my mechanic in and gave ample time for a response and never even received a phone call to address it. I also had to change fluids in the rear end, transfer case and transmission. Do Not buy a used vehicle from this dealer and don’t have mechanic work done there.

Schweiters Ford

I got recommended by a friend to get in contact with a salesman named Jordan. I went in to talk with him and told him what I was looking for in a truck. He told me he would make it his priority to find a truck that exceeded my expectations. Within two weeks he called me back and told me he had found me a truck. It was the truck of my dreams. It included everything I was looking for, and that following Saturday I brought it home. A short while later my fiance traded in her jeep for a brand new Ford Escape. We are both more than pleased with out new vehicles. I highly recommend Schweiters Ford of Montevideo. It was a great experience.
