Bought 2 cars from them, went back for a trade of my

Bought 2 cars from them, went back for a trade of my daughter’s car. Had it for 2 years, very low mileage. She drove less than 5 miles a day to high school. Online quote was very good. Went in to showroom and the quote dropped $3500. They told me the car had HAIL DAMAGE!!! Car never left South Carolina!!! Manager said “I’ve been here 5 years and I’ve never seen hail!!! I said EXACTLY! Is this some kind of joke??? Told me to bend down and examine car at eye level to see marks. My mistake I guess because I didn’t bend down to eye level to spot the marks when I bought it (Not at all visible when looking at car standing up) What a scam…. I felt like I needed a shower after talking to the manager. What a huge disappointment! Won’t ever go back. Sleazy business.

You Can’t Lose

This is me second sale to Carmax. The first sale went smoothly and everything they said was true! People who turn their car into the dealer are totally getting screwed. For example I turned in a 2020 c300 early this year. The payoff was $32k; I got $36k from Carmax. Unbelievable. However, companies like Mercedes allowed Carmax to pay off the lease. Now they require you to buy out the lease so you have to come up with the cash and then you have to wait until you get the title before you can go to Carmax. Sounds like a little anti trust behavior.

friendly convenient service!

Service department at Carmax superceded my expectations! Called to have a service done on my Nissan and they were able to accommodate my tight schedule even though they did explain their schedules were tight as well. The amount of time I waited was far less than any dealer I've ever been to, and Dave in the service department greeted me by name and wore a smile until I left! They even washed my car for me and let me know if there was anything I needed to not hesitate to give them a call.

Great staff

Richard, who helped my fiance and I, was extremely knowledgeable, patient and honest with us. He really helped us narrow down what we want and made our visit very enjoyable.

Service department is terrible

Bought a 2009 Honda Accord at Carmax in Charleston SC. The overall buying experience was a good one, but the service department is terrible. When you call the automated line and are prompted to press 4 for repairs it goes to a message that says calls cannot be taken at this time. I called back and went through sales to have someone transfer me to the service department. Left a message on someone's voicemail to call me back so I could schedule an oil change. They never called back. This is the 2nd time I've went through this with them. Sales department I would give 4 stars. Service department gets a 0.

Service department is terrible

Looking for a car

Went into the Carmax store just to look for a car for future purchase. I was greet immediately by Mr. Carl R Emery and from there things went smoothly. We asked about cars and he talk to us a little about them and told us to have a look and call on him if we need to look in, test drive or just ask question about any of the vehicles. We end up buying a car! Customer service was great and now we will have to drive the car for a little while before I will make any comments. OVERALL the experience.

Managers at Carmax never gave up on my Loan!

My situation must have been the most difficult situation ever at a Carmax, even though it was tough and the Managers and Myself got frustrated at times Ed, Dave, Eric, and Chris (Carmax Charleston Managers) never gave up on me and worked hard to make this thing happen. I came to them looking for my dream car, the Mitsubishi Lancer RalliArt or Evolution on a limited budget. They found the vehicle and brought it in, I bought the vehicle and there were a few problems with it, the guys took the car back no questions asked and found another one, even though there were some other issues that occured the Management staff at Carmax stuck by me and helped me make it happen. Anyone new to the car buying process should go see the team at Carmax, Charleston, as they will guide you through the process and explain it to you the whole way through! That is the way Car Buying should be! Thanks Guys for all you help and hard work! Chris G.
