I'm impressed with their quick follow-up! Unfortunately the car I wanted was sold that week!

Absolutely disgusted by this service department. We took a vehicle in - under warrantee - with a check engine light. We made an appointment for it. What a joke! They have had it for five weeks. They have never initiated contact with us about the status. Each time when we call, we are told they are working on it "as we speak". FIVE WEEKS! Twice we've been promised a call from the manager. Twice he never called. I am now on my way to a lawyer to force them to repair the car or pay for someone else to do so.

Dealer response

Hi Amy! Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, we're so sorry to hear about your experience. We appreciate the opportunity to resolve this and we hope to have the chance to give you a better experience in the future.

Consumer response

Well, Guley Leep's post said "We appreciate the opportunity to resolve this". So I responded to their post privately, explaining the situation in detail. I am now responding to them publicly because they never replied to my message. Apparently, they just wanted to look good by replying in public, but never had any intention of working with me.

POOR SALESMANSHIP AND LACK OF INTEGRITY! Due to miscommunication on dealership’s part, after driving 60 minutes for a scheduled appointment time the recently traded used vehicle I wanted to test drive (salesman said it was ready) was not available because it had not been through service, although it had been detailed. Eric Ashbrook and General Manager, Josh Horner could have attempted to salvage a potential sale, but instead were dismissive and condescending, taking no responsibility for the mishap. Mr Ashbrook simply left me standing in the middle of the dealership, and when I called the general Manager, he made excuses. Mistakes happen, but not taking ownership loses customers!! GO TO CASTLE SUBARU IN PORTAGE! You won’t be sorry

Dealer response

Hi, Mary! We truly appreciate you sharing your concerns with us. We deeply regret that your experience didn't align with our mutual expectations. We have tried to make it right, if you change your mind please give us a call at 574-212-2820.

Consumer response

Interesting. They did not try to make it right. I have since purchased from CASTLE SUBARU in Portage. Ask for Jay (Jermaine) Ellis, although everyone from sales to service is kind and respectful, bending over backwards to help you!

Consumer response

There was absolutely NO attempt to make it right. Proof: If there had been, I would have purchased a car from them….if not that day then a few days later when the vehicle was ready. I had it narrowed down to their Forester and one almost identical at Castle in Portage. They dismissed me….NO, “Hey, we’re sorry for the misunderstanding. We can have the vehicle ready in a few days and you’ll get first crack at it.” So, I drove to CASTLE SUBARU in Portage and bought the almost identical one from Jay Ellis!

I have tried to get a sales rep this week to purchase a car and had no luck what so ever. I was spoken rudely to by Alissa because I would not go with her because she didn't return my call. And she would not let me speak with another sales rep, she said they were all busy. So I guess I will go to Fort Wayne for a car. I will never recommend this dealership.

Steve Hilty is one of the nicest people. He was so helpful with the purchase of our Subaru. This is our second one so I think I'm a Subaru person. Thank you Steve.

Great service at Gurley Leep Subaru. My husband bought a truck about a year ago with salesman Matt Darr and we were pleased, so I reached out to him when I was in the market for a new car. I had been looking for a Subaru and found one I loved right away. The process was overall very smooth and I’m loving my vehicle, a few weeks in! Matt Darr is a friendly guy, quick responses when I had a question, and very helpful!

Made an agreement with salesman and manager on a trade. Next day, time to pick up car. "OH, we want another 1K above our agreement. Walked away.

I just picked up my 2015 Outback from having ball joint replacement, CVT transmission service, and front and rear differential flush. My vehicle runs like new and has over 171K on it. The technician Marc Buchtel did a wonderful job. Curt Seufert the Service Advisor has great customer service skills. I was quoted $3426, however when I paid on-line (you cannot see the amount prior to paying - not so good) the bill was over $4500. I called and spoke with Curt and he immediately credited my account. The bill came to $3416 which was a little less than the estimate. I am very pleased with all of the employees that I have dealt with at Gurley Leep Subaru.
