If you just want the short version: If you’re in the market for an Acura just go to Goodson Acura of Dallas. In my 48 years on this planet, I’ve rarely experienced anything quite like it. Granted, for the first 17 years I wasn’t exactly in the market for a car, but hopefully you get my point… Now, if you’ve got a few minutes, grab yourself a drink, sit back, relax, and enjoy the longer version: I’m stating the obvious, but car dealerships are businesses. They’re there to make money, not give cars away out of the goodness of their hearts. They have owners to answer to, employees to pay, and profits to make. Nothing wrong with that. But here’s what I’ve never quite understood. Almost every dealership will tell you about their “insert dealership name here” EXPERIENCE. They’ll explain how they’re different, how they go above and beyond, and how you simply won’t find their level of service anywhere else. Over the past weekend, my wife and I visited several dealerships across the Metroplex. We heard plenty about these experiences, yet very few could actually demonstrate what made them so special. We’d decided that an Acura MDX would be my wife’s next vehicle, and after visiting a couple of Acura dealerships, we discovered that Goodson was not only the closest to home but also had the exact vehicle she wanted, right down to the exterior and interior colours. Enter salesperson Brayden Leroy. Now, I’ve always been told never to trust someone with two first names, but here’s where things got interesting. Brayden never once mentioned the “Goodson experience.” He didn’t immediately offer us coffee, water, or a snack. There was no grand introduction, no rehearsed sales pitch, and no attempt to convince us we were about to experience something life-changing. He simply showed us the vehicle, answered our questions, and let us make up our own minds. When I asked for their best price, including discounts, he didn’t insist we come inside, sit at his desk, and wait 20–30 minutes while he disappeared into a back office to speak with his manager. In fact, he was perfectly happy to stand outside with us because our daughter was asleep in our car. I wasn’t asked what monthly payment I wanted. Nobody demanded the VIN of our trade-in, which we didn’t have with us anyway. Nobody tried to establish how much money they could squeeze out of us before giving us a price. I asked for a price. They gave me one. There was no pressure, no exaggerated laughter at every joke I made, and nobody chasing us as we left, asking what it would take to get us into a vehicle that day. It was simple, down-to-earth, comfortable, and refreshingly normal. A few hours after leaving, I reached back out with a counteroffer. They accepted it. No drama, no games, and no nonsense. The following day, we were back at Goodson, trading in our vehicle and driving away in a brand-new Acura MDX. Throughout the entire process, everyone we dealt with was absolutely brilliant. Brayden Leroy (Salesperson and occasional, albeit unintentional, Adam Sandler impersonator), Brandon Johnson (New Car Director, who shared a genuinely meaningful conversation about family), Ankur Javia (General Manager and fellow Colman’s Mustard enthusiast), and Kevin Aquino (Finance Manager and proud dad to Big Tex). Not once did anyone at Goodson try to sell us on the “Goodson experience.” They didn’t need to, because they simply delivered it. I’ve purchased enough vehicles over the years to know that buying a car can sometimes feel like an exhausting exercise in negotiation, patience, and occasionally questioning your own sanity. This wasn’t one of those occasions. So, if you’re in the market for an Acura, or even an Audi, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Goodson of Dallas. They seem to have figured out, in my opinion, the best customer experience.

I purchased my Acura from Goodson in 2021 and was very pleased with the interaction as well as the inventory. They had the perfect car for me and made me feel very comfortable during the sales process. Since then, I have had all my service done by them. They have made it easy to know what the maintenance schedule is, have been excellent in explaining all my service options, and have been meticulous in the quality and the detail of their care. I highly recommend Goodson Acura.

Very disappointed with no response from my service representative after leaving 3 messages regarding my needs for my vehicle. We have purchased our Acura vehicles from Goodson since 2018. Something has changed in the service area, long waits and no response is unacceptable. Management needs to review . As a repeat consumers, I feel disrespected, and will go elsewhere for my needs moving forward.

We brought our 2020 Acura TLX to Goodson Acura of Dallas because of a loud banging/knocking engine noise. We specifically raised concern about the vehicle’s prior connecting-rod-bearing safety recall and whether the noise could be related. Goodson charged us approximately $200 to diagnose the vehicle and told us the problem was the high-pressure fuel pump. They quoted us a very substantial amount to replace that single pump. We declined that repair. The engine then failed before either fuel pump was replaced. Only after the engine failure were the fuel pumps replaced elsewhere. That sequence matters. The later fuel-pump replacement cannot explain away the original knocking/banging complaint or the engine failure because the engine had already failed before those pumps were replaced. I have repeatedly asked Goodson to provide the actual diagnostic evidence showing how they ruled out the connecting-rod bearings, crankshaft, or a problem associated with the vehicle’s prior engine recall when it originally came in making this serious engine noise. So far, I have not been provided documentation showing bearing measurements, photographs, physical inspection findings, oil analysis, teardown findings, or other mechanical evidence demonstrating that the recalled engine components were inspected and ruled out. Instead, Goodson has emphasized that the recall had previously been performed by another Acura dealership and that Acura’s system showed no open recall. That does not answer the question. A recall being marked “completed” in a computer system does not establish that the engine was mechanically sound when we later brought the vehicle to Goodson with a loud knocking/banging complaint. Nor does it explain what testing Goodson performed before concluding that the high-pressure fuel pump was responsible for the noise. This is what concerns me most: we brought them a vehicle making a serious engine noise, specifically raised the prior engine-bearing recall, paid for a professional diagnosis, were told the issue was the high-pressure fuel pump, and the vehicle was returned to us. The engine then failed before that fuel pump was ever replaced. My wife was driving this vehicle. A serious internal-engine failure at highway speed can present an obvious safety risk. We took the vehicle to an Acura dealership precisely because we wanted the abnormal noise professionally evaluated before something worse happened. I am not asking anyone reading this review to simply accept my conclusion about what caused the engine failure. I am asking Goodson to produce the diagnostic evidence supporting the conclusion they gave us before the engine failed. If a dealership tells a customer that a serious knocking engine noise is caused by a fuel pump rather than a potentially dangerous internal-engine problem, there should be objective diagnostic evidence supporting that determination. I will update this review if Goodson provides the requested diagnostic records, photographs, measurements, technician findings, or a substantive explanation of how the internal-engine components were ruled out.

Trey, we are very sorry to hear about the frightening experience your wife had on the highway. During your first and only service visit with Goodson Acura, your TLX was brought in for a banging and knocking noise, and our technicians completed a comprehensive diagnosis. Based on those findings, we recommended replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump, as well as timing belt and water pump service, all of which were declined. We believe the subsequent mechanical failure and related traumatic event could have been avoided if you had moved forward with those repairs. The recall work referenced in your review was completed at another Acura dealership, and our diagnosis did not indicate that it was related to the concern for which your vehicle was brought to us. While we cannot speak to the vehicle’s condition or repairs performed after the recommended work was declined, we stand behind the diagnosis provided and would be glad to review the report with you directly. If you'd like to revisit the diagnosis with our team in person, you are welcome to contact our Executive Manager, Ankur Javia directly at [email protected] or (214) 379-5813. Ankur is available today to discuss this with you.
Goodson’s response raises an important issue that deserves clarification. Goodson has now publicly stated that it believes the subsequent engine failure and frightening highway incident “could have been avoided” had we authorized the high-pressure fuel pump, timing belt and water pump work they recommended. What is the technical basis for that statement? Our vehicle was brought to Goodson specifically because it was making a banging/knocking noise. Acura’s own safety-recall documentation concerning the TLX connecting-rod-bearing defect identifies engine knocking/rattling and possible engine failure as symptoms and consequences of that defect. Goodson’s response does not explain why a vehicle presented with a banging/knocking complaint was attributed to a high-pressure fuel pump and routine timing-belt/water-pump work rather than the known engine-bearing condition, nor does it explain how those declined repairs would have prevented the subsequent internal engine failure. This is especially important because the Acura fuel-pump safety recall concerns the in-tank fuel-pump motor/impeller. That is not the same component as the high-pressure fuel pump Goodson recommended replacing. I am therefore asking Goodson a very straightforward question: What diagnostic evidence establishes that replacing the high-pressure fuel pump, timing belt and water pump would have prevented the subsequent engine failure? If Goodson is going to make that causal statement publicly, I believe it is reasonable to ask them to identify the technical evidence supporting it. I am also continuing to request the complete diagnostic documentation associated with our visit so that the sequence of events can be evaluated based on records rather than competing statements.
Goodson Acura has now publicly stated in its response to this review that it believes the later engine failure “could have been avoided” if we had approved its recommended high-pressure fuel pump, timing belt and water pump repairs. I am asking Goodson to provide the technical basis for that statement. Our vehicle was brought to Goodson because of a banging/knocking noise. Acura’s own safety-recall documentation regarding the connecting-rod-bearing defect identifies knocking/rattling and potential engine failure as symptoms and consequences of that condition. Goodson has not explained how replacing the high-pressure fuel pump, timing belt or water pump would have prevented the subsequent internal engine failure. Their response also refers to a “comprehensive diagnosis.” I am requesting the complete diagnostic documentation so that this can be evaluated based on the actual records. If Goodson has diagnostic evidence supporting its public assertion that the recommended repairs would have prevented the later engine failure, I welcome them providing that evidence publicly. If they do not, then I believe that statement should be corrected.
