Found a car I wanted to look at so went to Carter's and talked to Andrew. He went to look for the car and after serveral minutes came back to tell me that it was in the body shop and would I like to look at a different car. I said okay and he showed me a car that was $6,000. more than the one I had come in to see. I thought about it and asked him if my trade in would bring the price down closer to what I had budgeted for..he went to talk to the manager. The trade in wasn't going to make much difference so I declined the car he was offering. At this point he got another sales person involve, Macy Greer. I had met her before and she showed very little interest in helping me with aused car. To make a very long story short ,,I finally said no I can't afford the car they wanted me to buy and I would wait to see the one I was interested in. Macy promised she would give me a call on Monday. She didn't call Monday, Tuesday or Weds. and neither did Andrew. Very disappointing because I've been getting my two Subarus serviced here for over 10 years. I love the service dept. but the Andrew and Macy didn't listen to me, didn't respect what I had to say, and then simply did not call. I was pleasant even as I walked out the door wondering if I had just gotten the run around. I think I did. Was the car I wanted even there? It is still advertised. I will buy me Subaru from another dealer.

The entire team at Carter Subaru Ballard was exceptional!
The entire team at Carter Subaru Ballard was exceptional! I had an incredible experience purchasing a 2025 Crosstrek Sport. Macy didn't try to "sell" me anything. She listened to what I wanted, priced matched a quote that was made to me by another dealer and went out of her way to get that car for me- she had it brought over from another dealership within 14 hrs. From the first phone call, to the financing process I felt taken care of. If you are looking for a Subaru, call Macy!!!!

Mike Claggett was great to work with!
Mike Claggett was great to work with! Super friendly, upfront, personable and knowledgeable. We are very loyal repeat customers of Capitol City Honda in Olympia…, however with the exceptional customer service we experienced today we may venture to Ballard with our next car purchase. The financial rep, Yang, was so fast and super down to earth. They both deserve a raise! Go to Carter Subaru in Ballard, you won’t be disappointed!!

Rarely answer phone and do not call back when they say
Rarely answer phone and do not call back when they say they will. I no longer go here for service. All scheduling has to be done online and they will not try to fit you in if an emergency need.

WE Love Carter Subaru in Shoreline
We were looking for a pre-owned Certified Forester. Carter Subaru in Shoreline had the car we had been looking for, for over 3 months. Steve, the salesman was kind, not pushy and very knowledgeable of all the tech on our 19 Forester. The purchasing process was easy. We were in and out in less than an hour. It was worth the 3-hr drive from our home in north central WA to Shoreline. Our (my wife's) Outback has a LOT more miles than our (my) "new" 19 Forester, so when our Outback wears out we will be giving Steve a call to find another Outback for my wife. Thanks again Carter Subaru of Shoreline, you're the best !

don't bring your car here
Avoid this location at ALL COSTS. The mechanics here put me in an INCREDIBLY unsafe situation. I got my tires rotated and they left all four wheels loose. To the point where one of the bolts on the tire completely broke off and my wheel was about to fall off by the time I noticed the issue. I brought the car to a local Les Schwab who informed me that all the wheels were loose and I was lucky I didn't get seriously hurt. The service staff did reimburse me for the Les Schwab service and offered me a free minor service at Carter in the future. But I think my life is worth a lot more than the few hundred dollars in reimbursement. I will say Steve tried to do the best he could at his job. However, I won't be returning here and I encourage others to look elsewhere.

Discriminatory
Horrible customer service. I purchased a brand new Subaru Outback from the ballard subaru dealer. Bought an extended warranty, all service work with the dealer. Within a week of purchasing the car, USB port had to be replaced and the driver's door handle fell off. I have always been given a rent a car when dropping my car off for service work and an oil change. I was told I was given a loaner car because I have only have had major service. So ever since purchasing a new car with Subaru only major service work has bee done. Today they no longer will give me a loaner car. They want to charge $90.00 for 1 1/2 hours. I'm handicapped and can not risk the chance of waiting in the lobby while oil is being changed. I explained I am the recipient of an organ transplant, disabled and can't risk waiting inside of a room and catching covid. Clearly this dealership is not sympathetic to persons with disabilities.

"In fact, women buy 62 percent of all new cars sold in...
"In fact, women buy 62 percent of all new cars sold in the U.S. and influence more than 85 percent of all car purchases." Carter Subaru Ballard needs to keep this in mind! I've bought the last 7 cars in our family and I truly hate being jerked around by any dealership that refuses to deal with a woman, (just CAN'T accept the fair price offered) but will make the EXACT same deal to the penny that I try to make if it comes from my husband. They also inflated title and registration numbers by over $250 to make the deal on the sale - even when questioned if they were accurate figures. Then once we agreed on the 'out the door price', they took the excess money they'd quoted and moved it from the fees and added it to the purchase price of the car on the paperwork! We scheduled an appointment to pick up the car a day in advance. When we got there, we were the ONLY customers, and none came in while we waited. We still waited over 1.5 hours to get our purchase finalized. It was such a waste of our time.

Carter in Ballard was not my first choice when requesting...
Carter in Ballard was not my first choice when requesting price bids on the model I wanted due to its poor rating on DealerRater, but sales person Bill Koch responded to my pricing request with the most competitive bid, so I proceeded carefully. Thankfully the purchasing experience ended up being pretty flawless--I found Bill to be very straight-forward and conscientious. Delivery took longer than expected due to pandemic-disrupted production and transportation, but I expected that so was okay with waiting. In the end I got exactly the car I wanted at what I perceive to be a fair price, and had a truly painless purchasing experience. I would highly recommend Bill Koch as a salesperson--I feel like I got great service and exactly what I needed.

DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR HERE
Share review Embed review Write an update Edit review 2/29/2020 DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!! Unprofessional, disrespectful group of clowns posing as used car salesmen. Carter Subaru Ballard is the WORST!! We scheduled 2 appointment at this dealership to test drive cars, the first time they made us wait an hour after our appointment and then gave us some BS excuse that the car wasn't available because it was being detailed. No apologies or compensation for the time we wasted or the distance we traveled. We should have known better but we made a second appointment to test drive 5 cars, when we got there we were told our salesperson was suddenly in the hospital, although she had confirmed the night before. Obviously the manager could not call his employee's scheduled appointments and cancel or reschedule with another sales person. Lazy, inconsiderate, smug, rude *sswholes who do not know what customer service means. Their cars are always overpriced on carfax, rarely a great deal or even a good one. Buy your next car from ANYONE else but Carter Subaru Ballard, they honestly don't give a *hit and could care less about wasting your Saturday.
