$775/hr labor rate
I had an 11:30 appt on 6/12/23 at Hyundai of Anderson for the replacement of the rear shocks. I arrived at 11:05, registered with the service mgr, then sat at a exterior bench in full view of the service bays. My Santa Fe was still parked outside at noon so I inquired if there was a problem. I was informed that things were taking longer than expected so I returned to my seat outside. At 12:15 I watched my Santa Fe being driven into the garage. At 12:45, I watched my vehicle exit the garage. Service completed in THIRTY minutes! At the counter I saw I was being charged $387.88 for labor! I spoke with the service mgr and said, "You're not seriously going to charge me almost four hundred bucks for 30 minutes of labor, are you?" He shrugged his shoulders and said "I can't change that." I asked what their hourly labor rate was to which he replied, "$185/hour." I stared at him waiting for further explanation but nothing came. I replied, "You can't change that?" He shook his head no. I had no choice so I paid the $387.88 labor charge with a credit card. That's an effective hourly rate of $775/hr! Hyundai of Anderson has serviced my Santa Fe for 10 yrs. EACH time I gave them 5 star reviews. Not this time! I waited two days before writing this review as I actually expected someone would contact me in an attempt to make things right. Sadly, what WAS my dealership of choice, is not concerned. If they'll charge a long-time customer this exorbitant rate, then new customers beware!
