Over the course of 22 years we purchased 7 Subaru's from Long not counting friends and family I sent there. Long's service department was always great and not much more expensive that an independent shop until about a few years ago when something at this place changed in both sales and service. Service became overpriced and the sales department became very greedy. When recently shopping for a Crosstrek, I asked them to match a competing dealer's price and they would not budge. It wasn't like it was some mega savings. You would think that over 22 years and $200K worth of Subarus purchased at this dealer they would give me a break. But no, no no. I took my business to Mazda for a spectacular CX30. Good bye Long!

While we can understand that when a customer does not get exactly what they want it can lead to disappointment, we do not agree that a dealership is obligated to undercut our already competitive pricing. Since this review is using a screen name, we can’t be sure that we are addressing the exact situation, but the only recent similarity would be on the sale of a pre-owned vehicle. As such, ‘matching a competing dealer’s price’ is almost never an apples-to-apples comparison due to condition, miles, certification etc. However, according to this review, the buyer did not opt to purchase the other Crosstrek either, so we doubt our decision would have had any influence. Our pre-owned inventory is under our True Price Guarantee and is therefore priced fairly for everyone the first time, no haggling needed. All our long-time customers are aware of and approve of this policy that has been in place for 18 of the 20 years we have been here. We have on occasion reviewed our pricing on the spot for a vehicle and determined to lower the price. But this is a rare occurrence as we work in a very competitive market. The sale price is then lowered for everyone not just the buyer asking, and is usually by a few hundred dollars at most not the thousands requested by this reviewer.
