Dear Timmons Subaru Team, I am writing to share my exceptional experience purchasing our second family vehicle from your dealership. After a frustrating three-week search visiting six different dealerships in San Diego, I was ready to give up due to typical up-selling techniques and high-pressure tactics. Fortunately, I decided to contact Timmons Subaru in Long Beach. My initial communication with Miguel in Internet Sales was completely pressure-free, which convinced me to consider the two-hour drive. Louie then joined the conversation and gave me the confidence to make the road trip with my family. When we arrived, both Miguel and Louie greeted us at the door. My wife and I brought six of our seven children (ages 4 to 13), and the team made sure they were comfortable and entertained. We felt entirely welcomed and completely stress-free after our long trip, making our planned visits to dealerships in Airport Marina and Anaheim unnecessary. The entire process took less than 90 minutes. I test drove and inspected the vehicle, reviewed the CarFax report, and agreed on a fair out-of-the-door price with zero haggling. Financing with Miles was swift and equally seamless, and we were quickly on our way to celebrate. Louie, Miguel, Miles, and the rest of the staff provided a top-notch, amazing experience. Your professionalism, friendliness, attention to detail, and honest family atmosphere have fully restored my faith in the dealership car-buying process. My family and I truly appreciate your wonderful hospitality. Thank you, Gerardo Del Villar

I had a very disappointing experience with Timmons Subaru and ultimately decided to walk away because the trust was gone. We came in specifically for a vehicle advertised online for approximately $28,495. We test drove the vehicle and sat down with salesperson Matt to discuss financing and trade-in options. Early in the conversation, Matt asked whether we already had financing in place, and we explained that we were pre-approved through our bank at a 3.25% interest rate, so financing was already secured on our end. When discussing our trade-in, Matt initially stated they would offer around $2,500. We explained we already had a separate certificate offer worth $3,500 elsewhere, and to his credit, he did increase the trade-in amount to match it. However, while we were sitting there waiting on trade-in numbers and continuing the purchase discussion, Matt later returned and told us the original vehicle had supposedly been sold “out from under him” by another salesperson to another customer. Almost immediately afterward, we were directed toward another similar vehicle priced around $32,495 — roughly $4,000 higher before taxes and fees. We were then told management would “help” by adjusting the trade-in value to offset part of the increase. At that point, the issue was no longer just about pricing. The trust had already been broken. Spending time negotiating for one vehicle, only to suddenly be told it was no longer available while being redirected to a significantly more expensive option, made the entire experience feel misleading. After leaving, I searched online reviews and found multiple customers describing very similar experiences involving pricing changes, vehicle availability issues, and sales tactics that created confusion and distrust. Whether intentional or not, the experience felt very similar to a bait-and-switch situation. Customers deserve transparency and honesty from the beginning, especially after investing time at a dealership negotiating in good faith.

Buyers beware of this dealership. Unfortunately, I’ve had the worst experience with Sabri internet sales manager. Beware that he will pull a bait and switch on you. I went to the dealer test drove the car. He told me he would beat the price I got from another dealer. The following day he tells me they actually increased the price by 3k more than what he promised. I’m a huge Subaru fan. I own one, but since this experience. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.i don’t think i will be buying another Subaru. I hope Subaru holds a better standards on how they regulate these dishonest salesmen/dealership.

Excellent service on an online purchase and the car (Subaru certified 2023 Crosstrek) was just as described. All of my interactions with the salesman Robert and staff were excellent and when there was a small problem (the car was missing one of the keys and fob) they quickly came up with a solution that was completely acceptable. Obviously when you buy a car online and fly a thousand miles to pick it up you're nervous but it couldn't have gone any better!

I recently had the worst experience with the Service Department due to the incompetence of the technicians. I am sure that the usual response will be “we’re sorry for your bad experience,” but this isn’t about apologies—it’s about doing things right. I feel compelled to recommend the Sales Department instead, as they know how to do their job properly.

Everything was great until we got to the financing part. I connected with Timmons through Costco and I had done my research of interest rates and such so I knew about what I should have been offered. The Costco discount on the car was $3,000. Interestingly enough, come time to do the financing, the interest rate that they started at was 3% higher than the market rate (and I do not have bad credit) which coincidentally would have added $3,000 back to the cost of the car. After playing this game, all of a sudden they were able to drop that rate three percentage points back to the going market rate. This left a bad taste with me and I know that I will never buy from this dealer again. Whether or not I will ever buy another Subaru again is still up for debate. The car itself is fine but I am not enjoying the car, and it is because of the financing experience.

We're so glad Henry had the opportunity to assist you, Jade! Thanks for the kind review and please don't hesitate to reach out if our Timmons Subaru team can be of service again in the future!
I had the worst customer service experience of my life at Timmons Subaru this weekend. While my sales associate was kind and professional, my interaction with manager Ratana "RC" Chhor was shockingly unprofessional. I came to purchase a vehicle with a serious offer, a good trade-in, a sizable cash down payment, and an excellent credit score of 845. My goal was to make a fair deal that satisfied both my needs and their sales objectives. To demonstrate my seriousness and willingness to negotiate, I visited Timmons two days in a row and even raised my offer by $1,000 beyond my initial limit. I made it clear I was ready to buy immediately. Despite this, RC made it evident that he wasn’t interested in making the sale, displaying the following unacceptable behaviors: 1. Condescension: He said to me, “You understand this is a business, right? Like, we’re here to make money.” 2. Belittling: He dismissed my offer by saying, “If that’s your number, then you can’t afford this car.” 3. Gaslighting: RC undermined a prior negotiation I had with another manager, Tony, saying, “The deal you had yesterday wasn’t real. He was just trying to get you to commit. You never actually shook on it.” He then raised the price by $1,300, effectively dismissing any previous conversation I had with Tony. 4. Dishonesty: RC claimed, “The car has only been here for 10 days,” when both the website and sales report showed it had been on the lot for 25 days. 5. Insulting: At one point, he remarked, “I’m not in the business of helping you pay for the car.” Ultimately, RC was completely intransigent, letting his pride override reason. He chose to lose the deal entirely rather than compromise to secure a satisfied and loyal customer. My experience was a waste of time, and I am both shocked and deeply disappointed that RC sabotaged the sale simply to “hold the line” on price. After 15 years of being a loyal Subaru owner, it’s disheartening that this is how my relationship with the brand had to end.

Schylerorr, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. This is not the level of service we strive for and regret any frustration caused. We want to discuss this with you if you're open to it. Please reach out at your convenience. Thank you, Rocky Ghahary - General Sales Manager - [email protected]
Sales (Brad) and Finance did an outstanding job helping us buy our first Subaru. No pressure but very responsive to all our questions and helped us quickly complete the purchase. We love our Outback Touring XT! Great people work here!
