Dangerous negligence

On 5/26/2020 I took my daughter’s Mini to Keeler Mini in Albany for the NY state inspection and an oil change. Less than 700 miles later my daughter told me the car was making a very strange noise. At a local auto shop they tested the car and found the lug nuts on the left front wheel were so loose that the wheel was very close to falling off. The service department manager at Keeler, Darren, of course denied that such a thing could have been caused by them. He even had the nerve to lie and say that they do not remove the wheels for the inspection. When I told him I knew that the state inspection requires to have one removed at least, he quickly said they had indeed removed the front left one. I told him that sounded like a very incriminating coincidence. He quickly said that his mechanic (Herb Wilson) could have not caused it since it happened 2 1/2 months/700 miles after they had our car with them. The timing is irrelevant, but I knew he was never going to admit any wrong doing under the risk of being sued, neither I would be able to prove it. After the conversation I have found quite a few chats on the internet related to similar cases of loose lug nuts in cars that had been serviced 400, 600 and up to 900 miles before they lost the wheel. I know I should be thankful that we did not cause an accident and that my daughter is alive. It would have been nice to receive a sound apology from Keeler, and even better if as compensation for their potentially deadly negligence I would have received the $313.33 I was charged for the inspection, some spark plugs and an oil change. I will never set foot there again, instead I will bring our three cars to the local garage where the staff is competent and where they care for the safety of their clients. Keeler Mini is only consistent in trying to make quick money with repairs. I will make it my mission to spread the word of what happened to us. In Keeler they are incompetent, dishonest and arrogant, and people need to be aware of it.

In Quest of a Mini Fun

I've bought cars from Keeler's since 1976 a new BMW 2002. Never let me down and if they did I told them. They were the cause of me founding the local Patroon Chapter of the BMWCCA. Now, I'm looking into a MINI "S" a close cousin of the 2002. We are looking for my car and are bound to find one very soon. Then I will be very HAPPY !!!!!!

Happiest staff

I love coming to Keeler Mini. Everyone is happy and helpful. I bought my Mini from them last September and because of the pleasant atmosphere I will never buy a car anywhere else. I consider them an "upscale dealer" in every way.

I Love Keeler MINI!

I bought a MINI from Keeler in 2014, the entire process was the best car experience I have ever had. Everyone in the dealership is a pleasure to deal with, the sales people, the managers, the finance guy - really every single person leaves you with the feeling they want to help and make your experience a positive one. They are helpful, friendly, knowledgeable without being pushy or aggressive. I got an excellent car, exactly what I wanted to pay and the service dept has been wonderful whenever I've needed to go in. I would (and have) recommended friends to them. I personally will never go anywhere else to buy a car.
