Reviews
Write a reviewThis dealership is not honest at all. Bought a car to find out they erased the codes for a bad transmission. Also found the shocks and struts were bad even though a safety inspection stated all was good. A lot of fraudulent activity going on at Import Motors. Save yourself the headaches and financial misery by staying away from this dealership.

Do not buy here. A week after buying here the transmission went out, it needed shocks, struts and axle replacement. They falsified the safety inspection and ERASED the bad codes for the transmission. I had to replace transmission with a used one and warranty company had to force them to pay a small amount to settle difference. Now front left wheel bearing is bad a month later

Terrible experience. They falsify their safety inspections to make you think the car is in good shape when it actually is not and they ERASE bad codes that pop up on vital systems under the hood… for example the transmission. Don’t buy here, they are lying, deceitful thieves!

They lied when we looked at the car, lied when we test drove it, and lied when we purchased it. The car was a disaster. A former Imports Ltd. employee saw the car when I took it in for major repairs and guessed immediately where I had bought it. He pointed out to me the cover-ups and cosmetic tricks they use to cover rust damage and other problems. Most dishonest bunch of crooks I have ever dealt with. I'd hate to have their karma. It will catch up with them if it hasn't already.

We worked with a nice sales guy there. Everything seemed legit. But once we got the car off the lot (a BMW), the check engine light came on. There were other things but we figured we would be okay since we purchased the extended warranty coverage. Everything that could have been repaired was declined as a pre-existing condition. But what really makes this a case of crooked sales is this car could not possibly have passed the safety inspection. So whoever they use passes and passes along whatever problems exist. When I called in to talk to them on behalf of my wife within about a minute of the call starting, the "manager", (who knows who he really is) started this strong passive-aggressive push telling me to calm down. I was completely calm so this is one of their tactics to try to spin you up. Sorry for them it didn't work. I remained calm and told them we could just have the state check out the inspection results. He then went into well if you want to go to arbitration, we've never lost an arbitration in 10 years. I had not mentioned arbitration nor did I have any interest. I just wanted a vehicle that would pass a safety inspection for my wife to drive. He became more belligerent and then they sent a letter to my wife saying they don't have to do anything for us and that "some man" had called in and that it would be better for her to talk directly with them. Sorry folks, you don't get to decide if a husband can call and talk to a ferociously aggressive used car salesman (well hidden during the sales process, I might add) on behalf of his wife. If you really wanted to work things out, you would not have gotten so hostile towards me while I was speaking calmly and looking for a solution. Tell your friends, these guys are BAD NEWS. It won't surprise me if they are investigated by the AG one day. If there are a bunch of folks out there with similar stores, perhaps a class action lawsuit would be in order.

This post is long, but detailed about why I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this group of absolute scam artists. On November 3rd, I purchased a car after my trusty Alero of 10 years was totaled in a fender bender. I don’t have savings. I don’t have much of a safety net, and this was a huge purchase for me. I decided to find a car I could purchase outright to avoid having a car payment every month that I couldn’t handle. I found what appeared to be a perfectly nice 2005 Scion Tc that I was able to test drive with no issue. I purchased the car that Saturday and felt a wave of relief that I would have reliable transportation to my rehearsals In Creve Coeur, which is a 25-minute drive from my house in the city. In the week that followed, the car broke down on me 3 separate times, once leaving me stranded on an exit ramp in Troy, IL and once stuck in the middle of a busy intersection on Kingshighway. The final time on Kingshighway, after managing to drive the car the remaining 3 blocks to a Midas, I was told that the engine was irreparably damaged. At this point, I had driven the car less than 25 miles. Every attempt at communication with Imports Ltd was laughably unprofessional. It took 3-4 calls daily for weeks demanding either a refund of my money, or that they cover the cost of rebuilding the engine of the car they sold me band-aided just enough to get it out the door. For two weeks, not one single call was returned. I would occasionally get a manager on the phone when I would call only to be told that they were "talking to management" or some equally vague nonsense answer. A full two weeks after the initial purchase, nearly $800 in the hole from towing fees, Dobbs, and $30 Lyft rides to rehearsal every night, I have FINALLY gotten my money back from this shoddy excuse for a dealership. Overall, I am lucky; I had the time and the resources to hound this business. I had the time to lodge a formal complaint with the attorney general’s office. I have a background in writing and research and was able to protect myself by reading up on Missouri emissions law and carefully documenting every time the car failed. What makes me angrier than anything else is that most people who buy a car from a trashy dealership like Imports Ltd are NOT able to protect themselves. They don’t have the luxury of working in an office where they can devote their lunch break to finding a way to recover their money. They’re often trying to get a car as quickly and cheaply as possible because they are working multiple jobs, have families, and having a vehicle can be the difference between having an income or not. “Dealerships” like Imports Ltd prey on the disenfranchised and those in our city who already have their backs against the wall. I don’t know what one voice without many connections can do, but I wanted to shed some light on the organization that has made my last two weeks a nightmare.

I went to Imports looking to buy a vehicle. Walked I. With 10,000 cash and was ignored by all staff. After 20 minutes of not one person trying to service my wife and I we got up and left. Walking past staff who still didn't acknowledge our presence. I will spend my money any other place.

I trade often and am always on the lookout for quality pre-owned German cars. Imports Limited usually has a few lower mileage BMWs on their lot that pique my interest. If you notice, some of those cars have sat there for a very long time. I tried to contact them on multiple occasions for trade appraisals, After they took my information, they never returned my call. I am not one to wait, so I did business with someone else. They always sound very shady on the phone and ask questions multiple times. They also prefer to text. As I said, I trade a lot and have decided I wont call them again, even if they have a nice vehicle on their lot. Communication is the key to keeping a good business relationship.
