Alpha Motorsports was very professional and the staff was great! I couldn't have asked for nicer people. I'm very happy with my purchase. It was worth the 3 hour drive each way (6 hour round trip!) to do business with them.

BAD experience !

Terrible experience.. they listed a GL550 2014 for 25,000 saying this is a discounted price for financing.. I went there, did the test drive and asked specifically why they would do that.. the salesperson with-held the information that that price is conditioned on being a government employee, military, student and a Virginia resident ALL AT THE SAME TIME !! They told me these details after running my credit score and having a hard inquiry on my record !! I lost it on the finance guy but for what !

Summary: Tread carefully when buying from this dealer as

Summary: Tread carefully when buying from this dealer as they will not stand behind their products and will not disclose any potential mechanical issues that they should've identified. Details: I went to this dealer to look at a 2013 Tesla Model S on a Friday. When I arrived, I was told that the car wasn't there but they would have it there in 1.5 hours. I came back 1.5 hours later right when the car arrived after being driven by one of their employees. I took it for a quick test drive but was unable to get to highway speeds due to traffic congestion in Manassas. I wound up buying the vehicle As Is as I falsely assumed that the vehicle was fine and the dealer would have inspected the vehicle and disclosed any potential problems. This turned out being a costly assumption. The next day (Saturday) I took it on a highway and immediately identified a potential problem with the vehicle. I took it to their Fredericksburg location where I attempted to return the vehicle. I was told by the staff that their maintenance team was not available but they had someone drive with me who verified there was a problem. They then had me call the salesperson in Manassas who assured me they would look at the vehicle on Monday and would work with me to resolve the problem. I took the vehicle in on Monday and the salesperson told me the maintenance team thought the problem was the drive motor needed to be lubricated and his maintenance team could do the work on Thursday or Friday and he would call me back. I did not receive a phone call on Thursday so I called him on Friday when he then changed his story and told me the maintenance team did not feel comfortable working on a Tesla and I needed to have Tesla inspect it and then let the dealer know what the issue was. I asked what would we do when we had the information and he told me to work it out with the GM. I emailed the GM with a timeline of the events thus far and he assured me he would work with me once Tesla had performed the inspection. Please note that I have documentation for all of this and he did not dispute the timeline or assurances provided by his sales team. The following Thursday, Tesla performed the inspection and identified that the wheels needed to be balanced, the bearings needed to be replaced, the axle was leaking and the drive motor needed to be replaced. The first 3 issues are not unique to a Tesla and should have been identified if the vehicle had been inspected by the dealer so either they didn't inspect it or they didn't disclose the issues when selling the vehicle. Also, the employee who drove the vehicle to the Manassas location should have known there was a problem as well. When I informed the dealer about the results, his approach immediately changed and he told me I bought the car as is and they would only offer $1000. I offered to split the repair costs or trade the vehicle towards a different vehicle but they did not respond. Bottom line: A reputable dealer will inspect their vehicles and fix any problems before selling it. This dealer did not do that, did not take the vehicle back when I tried to return it within 24 hours and did not fix the problems despite promising to do so early in the process. On a side note they also use deceptive marketing practices by displaying a price on the website but then when you arrive, they tell you that you need to qualify for 4 different discounts to get that price.

Dealer response

We apologize for any inconvenience but any 9 year old vehicle will have and will show some wear and tear, please anyone reading this, if you want to buy a 9 year old vehicle from us or any other dealership, 1. Perform a pre purchase inspection with your chosen mechanic, 2. Take your mechanic to check or 3. Don't do anything and stop blaming the seller. David bought a 2013 Tesla Model S for around $32K, if you want a vehicle with ZERO issues, than go buy a new one from Tesla for around $105,000. The Issues they found with the vehicle was I believe it needed alignment and one of the shock was leaking. Thanks

Consumer response

The dealer's response is not acceptable. Please bear in mind that: 1. The dealer either knowingly or negligently sold me a car with issues that they either new about or should have identified. Wheel bearings, balancing and leaking axles are not unique to a Tesla and an employee drove the car over an hour to the location prior to selling the vehicle to me so they should've known something was wrong as well. 2. When I attempted to return the car less than 24 hours after buying it they refused to accept it and instead promised to inspect it and resolve the issue. They then incorrectly identified the issue and when asked to remedy the situation, refused to do so. 3. I offered to split the repair costs with them or trade the vehicle for a different one but they refused those options instead offering less than 10% of the repair costs. I would have liked to have worked with them to resolve this in a fair manner for both of us but they were not interested in that. The only thing I agree with the dealer on is that I should have had the vehicle inspected prior to purchasing it. However, there are a lot of used car dealers who would have adequately resolved this situation, especially since I immediately identified the problem and offered to work with them to resolve it. Ultimately, if you're reading this, unfortunately you're probably in a similar predicament as I am. In that case, I would encourage you to file a BBB complaint, a complaint with the FTC and a complaint with the Virginia Attorney General. Also, leave reviews reflecting your experience at Yelp, Google, Dealer Rate, Edmunds and any other site you can find. If you are considering purchasing from them, make the decision you feel is best for you.
