Very unprofessional.

Very unprofessional. I was told to call Ford directly and after doing so was told to bring truck back to dealership. Tim Twait talked to your service man, I think his name was Steve and while they were on my phone it seemed like i was a problem and each person was flexing their position leaving me in odd spot. Service desk made me feel like i did something wrong by going above his head and i just did what he told me. I never got answers as to what i should do so reached back out and Tim told me to drive back to Ford or he couldn’t do anything. I reminded him lead spring is sheared in 2 but he said nothing could be done unless vehicle was there. He also stated Ford should be able to take care of me. After leaving it there 3 days i finally get called and told they would cover around 500. Leaving me 700 to take care of. I started tires were shot because of this so basically gonna end up costing me 1700+ for gaulty ford leaf spring. My truck has not towed one thing and the heaviest thing in the back has been a couple bags of dog food. It has not seen anything other than paved roads and been pretty much babied from day one. Then after sitting out all weekend i go to pick up and the doors were left unlocked!! Needles to say i was very upset. I have owned Ford since 1978 but will say after this experience this will be the last one ever. I will be telling everyone how well you stood behind your “crap” And discourage anyone from buying Ford products very adimately. .

Dealer response

We're truly sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We understand how frustrating vehicle issues can be, and we regret that your visit didn’t meet your expectations. However, we’d like to offer some important context that we feel was left out of your review: Your truck was purchased used and out of warranty, which limits what Ford or any dealership can offer in terms of coverage. Unfortunately, also means it could have been broken when you purchased it from the used car lot in Rockford. You did not purchase the vehicle from Freeport Ford, yet we still worked on your behalf to try and help resolve the issue. We asked you to contact Ford directly to open a goodwill case, which is a standard process for situations like yours. Thanks to that effort, Ford agreed to cover $500 of the repair cost — a gesture they were not obligated to make. We understand you were hoping for full coverage, but neither Ford nor Freeport Ford is responsible for damage that may have occurred before you brought the vehicle to us. In fact, another shop had already diagnosed the same issue prior to your visit here. Despite all this, we did our best to assist you and advocate for support from Ford. We believe this effort should be recognized positively, not negatively. We’re always striving to provide excellent service, and we regret that this situation left you feeling otherwise. If you’d like to discuss this further, we’re happy to speak with you directly.

Consumer response

My truck was bought with remainder of warranty left as i bought it with less than 20000 miles. You know there are problems with leaf springs yet you won’t recall it. It also doesn’t excuse the dealership for leaving truck so out all weekend unlocked. It also doesn’t excuse them for the way they treated me or your representative, who by the way, was very kind and helpful. The fact is there has been no misuse to cause the the broken leaf spring and where it broke is bet suspicious. Not only is it costing me to repair spring i also have to get tires, which were in good shape before this happened. The repair is easy but my main complaint is The way it was handled and putting me in the middle of your representative and the dealership. Seems to me the dealership could have done everything they needed from the very first visit

Couldn't find what was wrong after 2 days, said to drive

Couldn't find what was wrong after 2 days, said to drive my truck until it acts up again, even though it barely made it there. Had it towed to Anderson Ford in Rockford, found the issue within hours. Cost me just under $300 for the tow and got stuck with this additional cost because their mechanic is (and has been in the past) worthless, as this is not the first time taking it to them, being told they couldn't recreate the issue and to just drive it, which in turn resulted in needing to replace the engine. Worthless!
