Disappointing Experience – Somehwhat of a Classic Bait and Switch Tactics I was really excited about purchasing a 2023 Tesla Model S that was advertised for $51,900. However, when I reached out and asked for the out-the-door price, it jumped to over $55,000. When I inquired about the difference, I was hit with the usual surprise charges: a $995 doc fee and $1,500 for “installed equipment” – specifically theft recovery and collision avoidance systems. Frankly, for a car as advanced as a Tesla—already packed with cutting-edge safety and anti-theft features—it’s hard to believe these add-ons are necessary, let alone worth $1,500. It felt like a clear case of padding the price after the fact. The dealership offers no assistance for out-of-state buyers. No shipping, no guidance, nothing. If you’re not local, you’re pretty much on your own. Overall, the experience felt disingenuous and outdated. In a world where transparency should be standard, this dealership still relies on tactics that make the car-buying process frustrating and somewhat distrustful.
