CarMax Roanoke

Knowledgeable staff, found the car I wanted and had it brought to Roanoke. I did purchase the car.

Absolutely fabulous experience start to finish. Easiest way to buy a car. No hassle, no lurking salesmen. AJ in Roanoke VA was the finest, most professional guy and very helpful. He offered to have the car detailed if I didn’t like the way it looked. There was a large crack in the leather on the drivers seat and AJ pointed it out right off and offered to have it repaired by their specialist. That hasn’t happened yet but I’ll update this review later. I bought a Subaru that seems to be in great working order. Based on my experience I would highly recommend using CarMax for my next car! I originally ordered a Hyundai Hybrid. Advertisement says vehicles go thru a strict check and are deep cleaned. I waited, it was delivered so I went for a test drive. The car was filthy inside and out. It smelled awful like it had been sitting around with dirt inside. They offered to clean it and I came back the next day to test drive it. It had been cleaned but it smelled like dirt with chemical smell. It was awful. The car should get 54 mpg but only got 34. The salesman was nice but not very helpful. He appeared to be new or just untrained. He said I can bring my vehicle in for service at CarMax if I needed any work done. I ordered a Kia Niro next & paid $149 shipping. That car was very nice. Someone had taken better care of it. The lady that helped me was very professional and knew her stuff. I purchased an extended warranty. The lady was honest and said they’re very busy there and can’t guarantee I can get in when needed so maintenance is best getting an appointment ahead of time. I really love the Kia and I liked the ability to shop o line, enter my info ahead of time so when I get there most of the information was already in the system & cut down on the time I had to spend there. My husband has dementia so my free time is very limited. It’s nice to have CarMax here in town, I would recommend them but recommend they pay close attention to details since what’s advertised isn’t always what you get and some of the sales ppl are more knowledgeable than others so do your homework before leaving with a vehicle. It would have been nice if they offered a military discount. My husband was in Vietnam and discounts are very beneficial. Overall I’m happy with my purchase.

Everyone is attentive, helpful, relaxed, upbeat and they seemed like their goal was to help me find exactly the car I wanted and not trying to just upsell and get you out the door like a lot of other companies do.
