Before this experience, I honestly never considered buying a vehicle from CarMax. I had some misconceptions about what kind of dealership it was, and it simply wasn't on my radar. That changed completely. I was looking for a very specific vehicle, and CarMax had exactly what I wanted. The entire process was incredibly easy. I completed most of it online, including ordering the vehicle and getting my trade-in appraised. A couple of weeks later, the vehicle arrived and was ready for pickup. What impressed me most wasn't the vehicle itself, but the people. Every single employee I interacted with was professional, friendly, and genuinely focused on providing a great customer experience. There wasn't a single point in the process where I felt pressured or like I was playing the typical dealership game. When I inspected the vehicle after it arrived, the only issue I noticed was that the wheels didn't look as clean as they should have. I mentioned it to the manager, and instead of passing it off to someone else, he personally took ownership of the situation. He went out, got his hands dirty, and made sure the vehicle was re-detailed properly. Seeing a manager personally step in and take that level of pride in the customer experience speaks volumes about the culture of the organization. Another moment that stood out was during the payment process. I accidentally brought a check that would have overpaid for the vehicle by a few thousand dollars. The team immediately pointed it out and made sure everything was handled correctly. That level of honesty and transparency isn't something you always find in the automotive industry, and I genuinely appreciated it. The entire experience was straightforward, honest, and stress-free from beginning to end. No pressure, no games, no surprises. Just good people helping me purchase the exact vehicle I wanted. This was easily the best vehicle-buying experience I've ever had. I'll absolutely be back, and after this experience, I can't imagine going back to the traditional dealership process again.

I had a very unique circumstance and was worried about juggling a lot of things. The team here at this Carmax were understanding, empathetic, and more than willing to help me worry a little bit less. Such wonderful people and wonderful management. Never felt so listened to and important as a customer before, especially in an auto dealership.

A Truly Exceptional Experience with Seddrick Johnson at CarMax Citadel I want to express my deepest appreciation for Seddrick Johnson and the entire team at the CarMax Citadel location. When I arrived to pick up the car I purchased online, I learned that the title wasn’t available and there were no other vehicles on the lot that met my needs. This was a major dilemma for me and my sons, especially since we don’t have family nearby to loan us a car. We were suddenly left without transportation. Mr. Johnson immediately stepped in with genuine care and professionalism. He and his co workers began reaching out to other dealerships to find a vehicle for me that same day. While they worked behind the scenes, Mr. Johnson and his management team sent my sons and me to an expense paid breakfast because they could see how overwhelmed I was. That small act of kindness meant more than they know. By the time we finished eating, Seddrick had located another vehicle for us. Thanks to his persistence, compassion, and dedication, my sons and I were able to leave with a car the very same day. I recently purchased a vehicle from CarMax and while I ultimately decided to keep the van, the experience left a lot to be desired. First, I was told I had “30 days” regarding returns, which is misleading. The actual return window is 10 days, and that distinction was not clearly explained at the time of purchase. That matters—especially when trading in a vehicle. Speaking of my trade-in, I was later told it had already been sent to auction, which was frustrating given the confusion around the return timeline. As for the vehicle itself, there were multiple issues that should have been caught during inspection: - The touch-up paint does not match and looks rushed - A clamp on the air filter box was not properly secured - There’s no clear documentation that an alignment was checked or completed When I raised concerns about the paint, I was told that taking it to a body shop could “depreciate” the vehicle because it might show as an accident. That explanation did not sit right with me and felt more like an excuse to avoid properly fixing the issue. To their credit, the store agreed to keep the vehicle and attempt to correct the problems. However, at this point, I expect professional-quality repairs and proper documentation—not quick fixes. Overall, this experience felt rushed and not up to the standard I expected. If you’re buying from CarMax, I strongly recommend double-checking everything yourself and getting clear, written answers about return policies and repairs.

They made itso easy to buy a car. I was able to do most of my communicating online or text which is good for me. They were willing to work with me and I found them very honest. I got answers to my concerns within an hour.

My experience was amazing! I worked with Jayden and he made this process super easy. He was very professional and handled everything really quick. We got in and out within 90 minutes and left with a car! Give that man a promotion!

Destiny, Izzy, and Madgna (those name spellings are probably so wrong :( ) Were amazing! They were friendly, patient and were quick to answer any questions I had. After the test drive with Izzy, he actually looked up other cars that I was also considering but as soon as I returned home, I decided to buy.... Madgna had all the paperwork and financing completely done and set up a time to go in in under an hour! Destiny was amazing and got me in and out in under an hour as well. The manager also came over to see me off after wards, Everyone went above and beyond!
